Sorry if I've missed this in all the threads, but the one last thing I was wondering prior to purchase was if "Quick Battles" are possible.

In other words, can you designate a map area, specify size and point parameters, pick a side, purchase forces and then have the AI purchase its forces and play the scenario?

Though this game covers a lot of time, I am really only interested in it for present and near future, and I doubt that there are a multitude of premade scenarios in that range, now, or continuously being made. QB's would increase replayability greatly for me.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing like this in HCE. I'm quite a noob at this one, though, so don't take my word as truth.

I'm not really sure how easy using the scenario editor is either.

Thanks, NK.  I hadn't seen any feature advertising or reviews talking about anything like that, but was hoping I had just missed it.

NK is correct. Nothing like that in HCE.

The Scenario Editor (SE) isn't too bad on the learning curve. I think if a person started out with some small scale scenarios and worked his way up from there, it wouldn't take too long to figure it out.

The tougher thing is to create a scenario that is both challenging and enjoyable without leaving a player frustrated.

Problem is that such a user-generated scenario would be of limited play value for the designer....
Also you could play a litttle with random units (means: There is only a limited probability that a certain unit is in the scenario). And you could play with random starting points, so you wouldn't be sure where which unit is at the start of the game...

But I think that the best way to enjoy it is to play scenarios written by other people.

Exactly.

Thanks for the responses, gentlemen.
