I'm very much enjoying the game but yes, a few bugs do pop up.

France is at war with Spain.
Denmark is neutral.
Spain and Russia simultaneously declare war on Denmark.
France gets control of Denmark and it becomes a French Free State.

All good so far except that my Russia remains at war with Denmark but IS NOT at war with France. I've saved it at that point at will try attacking Denmark troops to see what happens.Thankfully I am not in any enforced peace with France.

mm:

Why should Russia be at war with France? This dual DOW should cause Spain and Russia DOWing each through this process.

When Russia declares war on Denmark, and France supports Denmark in the war such that Denmark becomes a French Free State, France should automatically have to declare war on Russia in order to do so.

France wasn't just controlling Denmark, it was supporting it and that means declaring war on those who declare war on it.

I should not be able to be at war with a nation's 'free states' without being at war with the state itself even if it was not a controlled free state at the time of the declaration.

This is both according to the original boardgame rules and the computer game rule. France are allowed to control Denmark's forces and if they manage to beat the Russians (which I have never seen happen) the Danish forces can be used by France as a free state. France can chose to declare war on Russia to support Denmark, but do not have to.

Hi,

As far as I'm aware gaining control of a minor when it has war declared on it does not automatically put you at war with the other major power. It's just a mechanism so that someone runs the minor. From memory in the boardgame if no-one wanted control of the minor it did'nt even get set up, but I don't know if that's true in the Matrix version. (Oh it's the same....just checked, no one controls it no pp loss for the war dec. and minor gets auto conquered).

Wars come when multiple major powers declare war on a minor and don't back down, or a major power declares war in support of a minor power that it took control of when the minor had war declared on it.

Also if the war lapses you would have to declare war on the major power to go back to war with the controlled minor....but I'm wanderin off topic.

Essentially, I guess, if you are'nt at war with France then they did'nt go to war against you in support of Denmark, they just got control of it and I say kick the Danish army for some French PP if at all possible :)

If France has accept control of Denmark but not Support Minor Country Denmark, it will take control of Denmark without a DOW between France and Russia. You can take control of a Minor without having the Majors have to fight it out. That is the same for both the original and the computer version. In this pic, Russia will declare war on Denmark, France will take control but not declare war on Russia.

In this pic, France will declare war on Russia if Russia declares war on Denmark. Notice the check in the Minor to support in Denmark and the check in if agressor is box for Russia.
