kejsersteff -> FAQ about minors (12/7/2007 11:54:05 AM)

Hi,

We could use a FAQ forum for questions on the rules, which are not clearly stated in the manual...

I'm a newbie in this game but my intention is to learn the game, since it's now possible to play it PBEM.

I have question about influential and allied status for a minor country - whats the purpose?`I can't get collect any money for them, I can't raise their armies, I can't even place a depot in the countries.

Please enlighten me?

Thanks
Steffen

This is in the manual and was discussed under another thread. Basically it just means that if anyone declares war on that ally/influenced, you are more likely to get it.

That was what I thought - thx.

...and if somebody declares war on you, your minor allies come to your defense, it seems.

On the other hand, if you're planning on conquering a minor outright, it'll cost you extra PP to break that alliance.

Hey guys:

The minor diplomacy largely comes from EiH v3.0 (Michael Treasure's creation).
A quick summary:

If you have an ally or influenced minor and another MP DOWs that minor then you do not need to roll for control. You get it automatically.

If the minor is allied to you and YOU DOW another MP then the minor will support you and turn into a freestate (Giving you use of all the minor's corps units).

The trick is that you can try to manpulate other MPs minors and turn them from influenced to neutral, etc. during the diplomacy phase. This kind of creates a little mini diplomacy game that can be a lot of fun.

Sounds interesting, but in fact this rule is not mentioned at all in the rules???

Steffen:

See section 6.1.2 Influenced Minor Countries and 6.1.3 Ally Minor Countries (Also note in 6.1.3 that allied minor countries are treated as Influenced minor countries but with additions).

It's not mentioned that the Allied Minor will follow a DOW on another MP as explained by Marshall... Or?
