I bought the original WItP and I havent played it once.

I started to but the useability of the program is difficult. The largest complaint I have is that the buttons are TOO SMALL. I spend more time aligning my mouse to click a button then concentrating on the game.

In World at War the buttons are big and easy. Please make the buttons larger instead of those tiny ones so I can finally play the game I bought years ago.

I think you will have to pay some x amound of $ in order to play this new mod.....

That's because the WAW buttons are fat sluts. Ours are sleek and play hard to get...

winky51 -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (12/9/2007 7:10:02 AM)

Perhaps you all are youngins but Im 40 and trying to align my mouse on those tiny exit buttons is just fricking annoying.  Also I hate the fonts, hard to read.

Last I checked I was 61. The buttons are a bit hard to use, but not all that bad.

Canoerebel -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/10/2020 8:35:18 PM)

This is almost as far back as you can go, for thread necromancy. Hey, this means Nomad is a spry 74 now!

HansBolter -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/10/2020 8:50:39 PM)

Holy Undead Batman!

Chickenboy -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/10/2020 9:08:55 PM)

Thread necromancy of 13 years? I hereby refer this matter to the AE Kangaroo court! [sm=00000028.gif]

dasboot1960 -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/10/2020 10:11:05 PM)

uhh, winky I think you can adjust your screen resolution. Look at the read me file. You can make the game start in an screen res your monitor is capable of. The bigger the buttons though the smaller the map; however there is a jump map. Necromancy is … is WRONG

Canoerebel -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/10/2020 10:12:09 PM)

Uh oh! Dasboot has fallen into the Necrothread Twilight Zone unawares. He's subject to a harmonic convergence.

Mercenary -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/11/2020 1:02:31 AM)

The buttons are still too small

Nomad -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/11/2020 1:44:36 AM)

They are a perfect size.

PaxMondo -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/11/2020 3:09:15 AM)

Nomad, been a while since seen you here. Happy New Year!

I think he wants buttons that are "enhanced"...

Cavalry Corp -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/15/2020 1:24:59 PM)

I have been playing for many years and I agree that the buttons are all way too small.
It's very annoying when you know the game still having to align the mouse over the buttons all the time.

If you have been playing the game for many years, you probably shouldn't sound like part of the entitlement generation.

If you were being sarcastic, OK.

Cavalry Corp -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/15/2020 1:51:45 PM)

Sorry for confusion I agree the buttons are too small shame they cannot make them bigger. Not sure what entitlement generation means :)

tolsdorff -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/15/2020 1:52:37 PM)

- Move the East coast base on the screen so that it and San Francisco are near each other on the map. It will prevent a lot of scrolling.

If parts of an isolated unit get evacuated for rebuilding, there will, for a short time, exist 2 units : the main one and the '/1' fragment part.
Now, it sometimes happens that these evacuated '/1' -fragments become the main unit and the remaining part gets the '/1' designation. I am not sure what determines this. I have had it happen when the fragment is very small, and I have had it not happen when the fragment is already substantially larger than the parent.
It would be nice if it can be manually selected which is the parent and which is the fragment. The sooner the fragment can start rebuilding, the better.

Added to this, it would be nice if isolated units, when considerably weakened, can be combined into 1 unit. Having a bunch of devastated, isolated units in the same hex with each having only a couple of disabled combat and support squads left is a bit silly. It would also speed up rebuilding of the evacuated fragments.

edit: a minor typo. need to check before pressing send

Canoerebel -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/15/2020 2:26:22 PM)

Forumites keep falling into the Necrothread Zone unawares!

Chris21wen -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/15/2020 9:55:02 PM)

Not posted or played for a while here but this has annoyed me. I'm 74, wear glass, play at 1600 x 900 in a window and have absolutely no problems. Perhaps it a skill that has been lost, ie. how to use the mouse. There is also the keyboard shortcuts.

The size of the monitor makes a difference too. My 18" monitor died and I could not get one small enough to fit under the hutch on my computer desk, so I went to a 32" monitor but kept the same resolution and game dimensions. Everything got proportionally bigger and I am finding it much easier to mouse onto target points.
I know from various posts over the years that some forumites are approaching the legally blind level of impairment, so I don't think comparing our experience with the buttons and text would be fair to them.

RangerJoe -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/16/2020 3:30:21 PM)

I play on my portable computer, small screen it is and I don't bother to wear my glasses usually. I just have the computer on my chest and it is the right distance for my vision.

Two problems, one is when a kitten decides to look over the screen at me and will close the screen sending the computer into hibernation. The other is when a kitten or two jumps on my belly when they are running around. Totally unexpected that is.

sstevens06 -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/16/2020 8:52:21 PM)

Lol at your kittens RangerJoe! I have just one 10 lb "kitten" who jumps onto my lap at random times. I have successfully trained him not to walk across my keyboard though.

But these are minor inconveniences compared to multiple cats versus large Avalon Hill and/or SPI/S&T games back in the 70s and 80s!

btd64 -> RE: Admiral's Edition suggestions (1/16/2020 9:03:46 PM)

I have 2 cats. One likes to sit in front of the keyboard. AT least she doesn't walk on the keyboard anymore....GP
