Hi Guys,

To help new players or players lost in the UI I would like to host basic training games.

We can set up a game for each trainee or six trainees in a game and then arrange a time to play using team speak.

I will take the trainee/s through the setup phase and all the rest of the phases, then play the game for a few turns to get the feel.

After that we can drop the team speak side of it and play a few turns until the hang of the game is got.

the fact that 1:1 tutition is being offered suggests just how bad the manual is

but please could someone post a tutorial in english (not the langauge the manual is written in please), maybe with a few pictures

What is probably needed for those having problems is a manual of illustrations with fewer words. Good idea.

Whats needed is to have someone who has only played the computer game, write the manual.   As I said before this manual was made for people who played the boardgame.

It was indeed, and hopefully someday soon we will see some excellent interpretations of the game functions from those that take that challenge.

I think you're overdoing it here. I don't find a thing wrong with the manual, besides maybe in missing some information. What is there is clear and precise.

What you probably need is a picture book-- I hear the Koran has a companion book called The Koran for Dummies.

Your blaming your own limitations on understanding EiA on the manual. I had not the least knowledge of EiA, read the manual a few times, tried a few games, and am doing fine.

Contrary to what you might think, the reason a "1:1 tuition is being offered" is more to the fact that people spend 20 hours daily watching television and 20 hours a year reading than to the fact that the manual is poorly written.

EiA is not Axis and Allies.

the game is poorly documeted and badly witten to boot, erik has pretty much admitted as such

right now the game is only suitable for AH's EiA players

Actually, I just said that it's clear from feedback that the manual isn't working out for some folks. It does work for others. We're going to take that feedback and see what we can do to improve the manual. I never said the game was badly written.

I do agree that an "EIA for dummies" would be a good thing and Ralegh is presently working on a tutorial of sorts.

That the game is only "suitable" for EiA players is your own opinion. I never played EiA, and after having spent some time with the game and read the manual through a few times, I'm having no problem. I may not be very good, but I understand the mechanics and overall concept of the game.

In a game such as EiA, you can't expect to understand things right off. Give the game some study.


As I said before, the manual has left out some things, but it is not poorly written. I don't think Erik said anything about the manual being poorly written.

I see now what the problem is, you want a manual written by a 6th grader. I don't see what is so confusing about my above statement.

What are you having trouble with, we're all glad to help you learn the game so we can rip you apart in PBEM [;)]

I am in contact with 6 guys at the moment for one on one tutes.

I am also looking at putting some Training Vids on You Tube. My first effor is somewhat awful, it looks OK on my PC, but on youtube it looks like they have smeared the whole thing in vaseline.

If anyone has youtube experience [if only they'd write a manual in Engrish!!!!! [sm=love0028.gif]] please help and I will get some videos up.

I have TS and have entered the IP and password and still cannot get in.

I would like to be involved in any future training sessions.

I have done a very few number of game setups.
The problem i had was my assuming that the PBEM would
be similar to other games i've played.
I see now that this system is different than any other i've seen,
and i think i see the wisdom of it.

Let's give it a chance.

I think i've noticed that the game cleans up used .pbm files,
which is key when playing PBEM games with AI players involved.
I've only done this with one game, and i totally don't know what i'm doing.
I'm host with one friend who was one of the few who would help me figure
this out without playing the game first.

(my other friends seem like they were afraid they would be somehow be defeated in such a test game)

So, with two players, many AI turns to email to each other. Actually, i'm not sure the program should attempt to clean up the old files. I was a software engineer for 20 years, and would not like to try to figure out all the permutations.

I have had a quick response job come up and I have to screech out of town this afternoon and wont be back until monday afternoon.

I might (hopefully) have net access when I get there but I am just not sure since it is a remote site, and my laptop is Vista so I haven't installed EiANW yet.

Please bear with me.  The TS server should be up and running now, so an experienced player and a player needing help could both log in and try it out if they wanted to.
