Any news on the patch yet?

It seems to be dragging on a little[>:]

Veldor -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/11/2007 2:39:30 AM)

Actually a week ago he said "In a week or so" so technically its not dragging on even a little yet [:D]

The definition of the period defined by so directly relates to the time period its used with. So in a year or so is about the same as saying in a year or two. Thus saying in a week or so is like saying in a week or two.

Thus there is no commitment until the 17th to provide the patch. And it wouldnt be dragging a little until the 18th or 19th.

But all kidding aside I'd like to see it to, if only a test version...

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/11/2007 8:42:23 PM)

Still working on it, but I think people will be happy with it. Another few days and something should be coming to the surface...

NefariousKoel -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/11/2007 8:53:50 PM)

Get back to work or it's the hose for you! [:'(]

hmssirius -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/11/2007 9:18:59 PM)

Ah yes of course!
I also forgot that I should not count week zero as zero is not actually a number so i should have started my "or so" count one week later.
Thanx Veldor
:)

Buisness would be so much more fun if it were not for us annoying customers.

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/11/2007 11:50:41 PM)

nah fishhead: I always look at it like, if it wasn't for those "annoying" customers, there wouldn't be a business to begin with. [:)] It's a philosophy i've always followed with my own little company, Stormcloud Creations, and it's one i'll continue to follow here with Matrix.

This annoying customer wants to ask if your spending all your coding time working on the Hornet Leader patch or on programming Arcadia instead? [:D]

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/13/2007 6:39:21 AM)

Nope [:)]...all my time is on the HL patch right now. Arcadia will get a little attention next...it needs it.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/14/2007 1:28:57 AM)

Take your time with it. Better to take a little longer then rush it out and missing something big! I'll still be here waiting to play it when it's done. [:D]

kverdon -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/17/2007 8:42:32 PM)

Any chance of this week?  make a nice Christmas Present :-) ?

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/18/2007 12:02:15 AM)

Yep...final touches and internal testing are all that's left. [:)] Finishing up the Random Pilot Selection feature now.

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/18/2007 12:05:14 AM)

The preliminary list is here (these may be added to or changed).

HLPC Version 1.2 Patch Info

Bugs fixed:
- Moving a pilot to the south approach area wouldn't always
revert back to movement phase properly
- Changing altitude to High would sometimes exit movement
phase if you were in movement phase already
- Sometimes combat would end if a pilot was shot down
even though there were still active pilots remaining; most
of these issues should be resolved
- A few stress related home-bound events (at end of turn 4)
would rarely cause the game to freeze
- There were a few display bugs with target campaign track rewards
(Infra 2, Infra 2, etc.)
- Sometimes the "to hit" modifiers for certain sites/bandits
weren't being factored in properly

Features/Tweaks added:
- Added altitude arrows on the map for pilots
- Now damaged/shot down statuses for pilots are updated
immediately on the map, instead of at the end
of the attack phase
- Retooled the combat screen for increased smoothness
and eliminated most of the flickering and "flashing"
associated with various activities
- Implemented DirectX for playing music and sounds
for a 5-10% speed increase between planning screens
and overall app smoothness; DirectX 8 or higher now
required to play the game
- Added a "Random Pilot" selection feature for initial
pilot pool selection
- Added an Abort Mission button that is only active
at the start of each phase on the combat screen
- Added a "View Current Campaign Stats" button on the
main target selection screen so you can view your
up-to-date stats during the mission
- Bandits tend to move a little more often and their
AI has been sharpened slightly

Woot!

Veldor -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/19/2007 8:26:10 AM)

No mention of backgrounds???

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/19/2007 8:09:59 PM)

Backgrounds are tough because most of the graphics are optimized wth black, not transparent, backgrounds. I could add backgrounds, but they wouldn't look so good. :)

rmielech -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/19/2007 11:27:32 PM)

I still have this sitting here unplayed because it won't run in 1400 by 900 on my monitor. Any plans to expand the resolution choices?

Ah so the plot thickens...[:D]
They could be converted with more recent versions of Photoshop like CS3. I've used the technique for AT Mods and I'm no graphics artist. :)

It would be super easy if there is no other black in the pics besides the background.

That's a good question. While I don't have a widescreen monitor, I'll probably end up getting one before long and I'd still like to play HL on it.

kverdon -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/21/2007 3:32:14 PM)

Hmmm. Does not look like the testing is going well. Also did not see an option to save and exit mid game.

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/21/2007 7:23:00 PM)

The "Saving" mid-mission isn't in there for balance reasons (people could try something, not succeed, then save and reload over and over again until they achieve the result they want), but being able to abort mid-mission (a very requested feature) is in there now.

StormcloudCreations -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/22/2007 11:30:07 AM)

I've submitted the 1.2 patch to Matrix, and added the ability to click on the altitude arrow on the map itself next to the appropriate pilot to change pilot altitude, instead of clicking on the side arrows. This eliminates the need to click on a pilot during movement phase just to see or change their altitude, which should make things much smoother. Thanks to all who have supported the project so far, and hopefully people see that we do listen and care about the game, and want to make it better and easier to play.

I also added a more "realistic" red/yellow explosion when you kill stuff, getting rid of the green toned one. [8D]

It'll come out when Matrix gets to it, i'm certain (they mentioned being short staffed for the holidays [:)]).

CapnDarwin -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/22/2007 4:29:07 PM)

Derek,

Sounds great. Can't wait to play it. Have a Safe and Happy Holidays!

Excellent Christmas Present, thanks!

kverdon -> RE: Any news on the patch? (12/24/2007 5:48:53 AM)

About Saving.

Sorry Stormy I disagree. IF and IF the application could be run in a window so that I could Alt-Tab safely out of the game when interrupted I might agree with you. But in its current state, I have lost many, many games due to running a misison and either getting paged for work, or having the other half ask me to look something up for her (and "I'll do it after my game is over" is NOT a good answer). I'll alt-tab out and then have the game unresponsive when I return and have to kill it in the task manager. Allowing folks to save after they allocated their pilots and weapons would at least be a help.

Now about cheating. Why do you care? If people want to cheat they will and that is their buisness They can now by the way. I found that out after one of the episodes above. I was on a mission in the middle of a campaign and things were not going well. I got paged by work, had to alt-tab out and when I was done with my work issue and came back to the program it was just a black screen. I killed the app in task manager and was then able to re-do my mission with better results. So if I want to cheat all I have to do is alt-tab out of a bad mission, kill the game in task manager and reload the campaign. So since not having a in-game save does not really prevent cheating why not add it in for the rest of us who could have a legit reason for needed to suspend a game for a while.

Merry Christmas,

Kevin
