One of my favorite wargames was VG.s Vietnam. The scope and details made it very playable.
It seems that Combat Operations Vietnam vol 1-4 is the closest we will get.

So. Anyone interested in a PBEM? I am quite new (or rather super rusty).

Boonie's Combat Operations Vols seem to be set up more for solo learning tools.

There are 3 other campaigns in TAOW III. Two of them Boonie Rat's 1965 - 1972 and Campaign for South Vietnam 1965 (to 1975) both cover the entire war.

Campaign for South Vietnam actually tries the hardest to recreate Victory Games' Vietnam. Campaign for SV uses the activation costs of committing and withdrawing US forces in a point system. Decisions can be made on how much bombing, how many US troops, when to start Vietnamization, and US withdrawals. This all impacts the level and duration of US involvement. You have to look at the MS Windows documentation included in the game to see how far they went with it.

I've played the first couple of turns of Boonie's scenario and I've read the documentation on CSV. They both look playable but both seem to favor the NVA for victory conditions.

I'd be willing to play either as either side.
