Coach Z -> Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/15/2007 10:28:19 PM)

Does anyone else any one have any issues with Window Mode?
I xan't see the Land Units at the Bottom of the screen at each base, nor the Resources, Heay Industry, Shipyards, etc. Makes things very inconvienient when playing as the Japanese!

No issues here. Can you post a screenshot, so we can see what you mean?

Coach Z -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/15/2007 10:31:37 PM)

OK will do!

Coach Z -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/15/2007 10:40:13 PM)

Ok here's a screenshot from SHANGHAI. I've tried resizing the window of the game but it seems that no matter how I alter the size of WitP, the bottom keeps getting "chopped" off.

Set your tool bar to auto hide.

I use a resolution of 1152x864 to get around this problem.

Coach Z -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 12:06:24 AM)

Well tried changing the resolution and got this.......

Bodhi -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 1:02:17 AM)

I often get that efect in windowed mode. Logging off windows and relogging in usually fixes it, but I generally find windowed mode to not be very robust.

Hell you're lucky. I often get it in full screen mode. It's been a standard procedure for me for a long time to reboot before starting witp :(

I would say I'd never seen it, but that would just jinx the hell out of everything...[:D]

I wish I had so many units in my Japanese games! [:D]

Nomad -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 3:01:41 AM)

did you try to change the resolution while the game was running? That will not work, you must set the resolution and then launch WitP.

I know windows mode works, I have used windows mode since they made it available and on 3 different computers.

VSWG -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 1:41:00 PM)

You're using the command line parameter to run the game in windowed mode, right?

It happens to me if I have my windows screen resolution set to 1024 by 768 Pixels, if I set it to 1152 by 864 I can then see the information at the bottom of the screen.

Coach Z -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 6:22:51 PM)

After 3 reboots and playing with the Resolution MANY MANY Times I got WitP to work in WIndows Mode.
Unfortunately everything looked so tiny now I really didnt like it!
I feel like Charlie Brown if he were a Buffalo Bill or FSU Seminole....he finally gets to kick the ball and it goes wide right!!

Nomad -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 6:28:30 PM)

Wierd, this is what it looks like for me. This is on a 24" ws moniter

Roger Neilson II -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 6:58:38 PM)

I have no issues with running it in windowed mode, but have noticed if I am trying to move the window round a little and I clip the edge and inadvertently stretch the window a touch I get a similar effect and have to sometimes minimize then maximise and other times have to close it down and open it again.

Roger

Nomad -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 7:04:38 PM)

That is true Roger, you can minimize the window and back, but you can not change the window size. I can minimize the WitP window, hit ALT-N to go back to my normal 1920x1200 - load other programs( usually excel or word ) and then resize and restore WitP.

Roger Neilson II -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/16/2007 7:20:36 PM)

I have my games all set up on command line to execute in windowed mode and, as I said, can drag the window all over.... including onto my 2nd monitor. Instead of dragging it I went to a corner and pulled it slightly bigger.... here is the result. I suspect this is the issue in this thread.

Incidentally by very carefully resizing the window again and trial and error I got it back again.....

Three moves all awaited and no sign...... so I'm playing to wile away my time!

Roger

Coach, did you ever get it figured out?

Yes but like I said everything just looked tiny. Perhaps it was because I had to raise the resoution to 1200,or perhaps my Video card is going, or perhaps Floyd sent me some type of virus or spyware went he sent me his program to try out in the midst of our game!
Actually its probably the fact I'm just getting older and my eyes suck now! But everything was a bit smaller and I didnt like it as much.

Wow, you are using a night mod!

Marten -> RE: Issue w/running in Window Mode (12/19/2007 9:57:31 AM)

this is common. it often starts to appear when you drop your game down to the task bar. i've learnt not to do this, instead i use alt+tab to switch windows.

I wish I had so many units in my Japanese games! [:D]

i not infrequently get this kind of thing in non-Windows mode - it seems to be related to having too much memory tied up in various other programs... usually if i close the other programs it goes away, but occasionally i have to reboot.
