vondee -> Java?? Oh no! (12/23/2007 6:08:27 AM)

Well I'm more or less enjoying CEAW but it runs fairly slow on my PC and I only get 2 levels of zoom (really far away and far away). I am somewhere between a state of denial and state of disbelief that this game was written (at least in part) in java. I have a fairly old PC (only 512 meg of memory) but looking at task manager, it peaks at around 1G of memory used when running. War in the Pacific is much more complex a game and doesn't come close to using this much system resource on my PC. MS FSX runs better than CEAW.

Don't suggest "well upgrade your PC" because I don't happen to have $1-2k laying around to toss at a new PC. Anyway, as a plea to developers, please develop in something more system friendly than Java (C++, C#, or even VB)... (and as you already know, if you want to tap the Mac market, this list gets shortened to C++ only). Thanks!!!

Is that 512k of RAM memory? I wouldn't run a PC without minimum of 2GB RAM memory.

You should be able to pick up 2 GB memory for around $50. A defraged HD would help. You could also pickup a larger capacity HD for well under $150. Just some thoughts.

You can even pick up a newly built PC for under $500 in some stores.

But I agree that Java is a bit lame IMO. [:D]
