Legion crashes after intro movies

Trying to play the game for the first time, I'm crashing right after the intro movies. I've tried adding "no sound1" my pref file as suggested in the readme, but still no dice. Any ideas?

Do you have DirectX 9.0c and the latest drivers for your hardware? What OS and machine specs do you have?
