qgaliana -> third party instant conquest of minor (bug?) (12/31/2007 3:04:13 PM)

Here's the situation:

Playing Prussia, I've occupied the Nassau capital in August. It is under control of Spain which is at war with France. I am under enforced peace with France. I expect by the end of September to conquer the minor.

However in the September land phase, France moving last, moves in and adds a garrison to the Nassau capital. No French troops had entered the minor prior to that. In conquest step the game assigns control to France (!).

Maybe I missed some fine print, but this seems to violate the 1 month of occupation I understood from the game rules and what I recall from the board game. Basically France was able to add a garrisson in september and conquer in the same month.

I have saves if necessary (my land phase, followed by the econ phase).

And while I'm on the topic, the distinction between controlled minor and free state seems to be lost when the controlling MP is already at war.

Nassau went to war with all the MPs Spain was at war with, not just my Prussia that declared war on it (there was no Prussia-Spain DOW).

I think I saw this too in a game a few weeks ago. I was Spain and I Declared on Genoa. AI France won the defense of Genoa and put a neutral minor factor in the Garrison there just as it should have. France moved in a corps on Land move and detached 2 French Factors. I moved in my corps on Spains Land move and besieged the city. As expected, when I broke in (on that turn I moved in same turn I Declared) there was one neutral garrison factor in the city and I beat it. I detached 2 Spanish garrison factors (so now the city had 2 French and 2 Spanish Garrisons. I expected within two months the French would be repatriated and I would hold Genoa. It never happened. I sat on Genoa not at war with France but not conquering Genoa for about four turns. I have tried to recreate this in hot seat games because I was thinking I may have missed something and maybe France conquered Genoa (though it listed as a French Freestate the whole time) but it does not seem that Human players can detach their factors in a Free State they are just defending.

This is a different scenario. But, it's also another bug, it would seem.

Bump - just wondering if a dev can confirm the original bug or if I should send saves.

It sort of side tracked with additional problems so just wondering if the problem description was clear.

We got it. It was already reported, confirmed and is presently sitting on the list for the 1.01 patch.

Btw, it really helps us if you have the files, you should always attach them with a description in a post, that way it gets prompt attention. When there are no files, I attempt to duplicate the reported bug on this end and that can delay things a bit, but every reported bug does get attention.

Thanks

Richard
