After the Dec. 7th game turn, should I immediately break up the KB into three smaller TFs because of the Coordination Penalty? Well...immediately, being when I round up enough escorts to fill out the ranks. Also, do I have each CV following the other in succession, or plot courses for all three to the same destination?

"The chance of uncoordination is doubled under the following circumstances:
Allied TF in 1944 or later or a Japanese TF at any time and the number of aircraft in the
TF is greater than 200 + rnd (200)."

more tf = more escorts

If you can spare that much escorts just for cv tf's than do it . But it is better that you create 2 cv tf's with 4cv each and one with those cvl's , cve's and maybe cs's . That is best compsition in my opinion till late '42 . Everything depends on avilable escorts ship . I don't like to commit 50% of jap DD's to CV TF's that is my reason why i do this .

I have never found a problem if I keep the KB in one piece. Unless one of the carriers need dock time (always seems to be Kaga) all my big carriers stay together.

The CVLs and CVEs from a min KB for secondary ops or to back up the main force.

Despite what is said about over concentration I have always found the big scary blob more than efficent enough.

My approach has been to run two TF's, with 3-4 CV's, doing as much sea time as possible and run a shuttle keeping the most damaged CV (from operational damage) in port repairing.

Most of my operational apporaches focus on sustained and sustaining operations. I find that if I run around with everything and don't keep at it with refitting, then I get to a point where overall performance becomes mediocre

When you attack allied base with strong cap or DS it will happen to you that 15 Val's or KAtes decides that they can do job alone :) . Not allways but if you want to risk to lose 50 pilots in that kind of operation than keeping KB with 6 or more CV's is best way to handle CVTF .
