Soapy Frog -> Some v1.00 Bugs (1/18/2008 1:18:48 AM)

These bugs cropped up just before I installed the new patch.

1) A stack of Austrian controlled Prussian corps moved inside Prussia, although Austria does not have access. They fought and won a battle inside Prussia, and then at the start of the economic phase they were force repatriated back to Austria. This created a fun effect where they were able to run into Prussia, beat a French stack, and then teleport back to nice defensive position in the Austrian mountains before the French could hope to respond.

SOMETHING is wrong here. Either they should not have been able to move due to access, or they should have been able to stay becuase they are Prussian (though Austrian controlled).

2) I was able to cede Mecklenburg to Russia even though an enemy French corps was in the area.

3) Austria paid maintenance for the aforementioned loaned Prussian corps

related to the first point:

Russian aligned Egypt at war with TU (RU and TU are not at war).
Egyptian forces charge into Palestine and win.
After the Russian land phase, the Egyptians are teleported to Astrakhan somewhere. (might as well be Siberia)

So 2 questions
1) how come the Egyptians can't conquer Palestine/Syria for Russia?
2) if you gotta teleport, why can't the Egyptians teleport back to Egypt? Why Siberia?

KenClark -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/18/2008 5:41:14 PM)

If RU and TU are not at war the Egyptians should not be able to leave Egypt without a DoW on Turkey by Russia.

Soapy Frog -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/18/2008 7:52:59 PM)

Yes; they simply should not be able to enter Turkish controlled territory. I think some conditions for movement are not being properly checked, and it is resulting in these crazy forced repatriations at turn end.

Jimmer -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/18/2008 9:01:57 PM)

Do you guys have a rule that says that? (That minor forces can't leave their territory?) I don't recall that one.

Soapy Frog -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/18/2008 9:52:30 PM)

The minor forces (Egypt) are controlled by the major power (Russia), and the major power is not at war, therefore they cannot enter Turkey. I do not think it is explicitly stated in the rules, but that is the logic at work.

gwheelock -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/18/2008 11:17:21 PM)

Except that the MINOR country IS at war & >theoretically< should even be able to
force a surrender out of DOW-ing MP - IF! it can do it out of its own resources.

Soapy Frog -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/19/2008 12:27:29 AM)

I don't beleive so gwheellock. I don't beleive anywhere that it is said that the minor's forces may eneter the Major Power's controlled territory.

in practical terms that is very unlikely, it might be possible for sweden due to its 3 corps if the dowing mp lets the war go on for a very long time. Basicly couse of the limited number of corps the minors have.

A minor will fall in one month if it doesnt control its capital or besieges its capital if it contains enemies. And if the minor leaves its home territory its unlikely a garrisoned city in a minor will survive longer than the MP even if the minor marches out to besiege the MP's capital.

So out of survival the minor will be unlikely to move its army out of its border unless there is no enemy corps present inside it which will cause the war to lapse anyway...

Soapy Frog -> RE: Some v1.00 Bugs (1/19/2008 12:48:26 AM)

Ok this is comical. Now a whole bunch of corps have teleported around. All my corps have magically returned to the positions they were in 2 months previously in the game (this is after we have upgraded to 1.01). My corps still ahve the losses they incurred during those turns but all corps are back to where I had them in Feb 1805... and this happened between diplomacy and reinforcement of April 1805.

What's going on??

There is also nothing stating that they may not enter.
Its part of being AT WAR.

I agree it's not >probable< (I did say >THEORETICALLY<).

The only conditions that I could see it happening would be if either the DOWing MP is incompetent
or suddenly very busy elsewhere (just got DOWed by MP#3; for example).

I can see a case where the controlling MP would move the corp out of the minor in order to
BLOCK the DOWing mp from entering at all. Example :

Turkey has corp(s) in Jaffa; DOWs Egypt.
Russia gets control; Russia knows he is moving before Turkey; sets up Egyptian corp in Area511 (2 zone sw of Jeruselem)
Russia then moves (during his movement) the corp TO Jeruselem; this blocking the Turks = Lapse of war.
(Actually had this happen in a f2f game once)
