WJPalmer1 -> Naval Build Warnings (1/18/2008 6:23:27 AM)

When a home nation's statistics are pulled down from the top menu, one of the choices before you is an option to disable "Naval Build Warnings" -- which seems to imply that leaving it unchecked makes you eligible to receive reports about the naval build efforts of your own MP or others. Cool idea, but I don't recall ever seeing such info, or perhaps I didn't recognize it when it was presented. Can someone explain the what's and when's of the intelligence that comes our way through this feature? I haven't been able to find it in the Manual.

Thanks,
Ron

Default the game will warn when you try to leave the reinforcement phase if you have available naval factors built and ready for placement something in the line of "...naval reinforcements are available but wont be lost if you continue. Do you want to return and place them"  and this will be repeated every reinforcement phase until you place them in a fleet or you disable the warning.

See my post about Swedish Transport bug for an example.  Sweden captured British transports which then show up in Malmo as "builds", but Sweden has no transport fleet counter to place them in.  So month after month after month I would get this naval build warning and nothing I could do about it.  So there's this disable button...

still pretty sure u can pick em up with your major powers transport

Yeah, just as soon as the French transport fleet can run the British blockade and zip right up there...  [sm=character0085.gif]

It was an interesting learning exercise that highlighted the capture rules.  And also brought to light that ship builds (at least transports) are almost generic and any fleet counter can pick them up?  Not sure about all that, such as whether Britain for example could go to an allied Spanish port and acquire new Spanish ships for its British fleets.  I wouldn't expect that to be allowed.

My interpretation is that you need to control the area to pick them up in effect that spain have to cede you the territory or if a minor alternativly you can conquer it for them to be available to u. I need to put a reservation in though untill i doubble check the rule.

12.1.2 SHIP BUILDING LOCATIONS: When ships are purchased, the exact port or ports where these ships will become available when completed (ie., where they are being "built") must be noted and announced (their building is common knowledge). These ports are the only ones where these ships can become available as reinforcements.

12.1.2.1: If a port city containing building and/or completed but unassigned ships is occupied by an enemy, all of these major power ships are considered to be destroyed.

12.1.2.2: If a minor free state port city containing building and/or completed but unassigned ships is occupied by an enemy, these minor power ships are not necessarily considered to be destroyed and, if building, construction can continue normally, as the major power that took the port desires (competitive die rolls determine the ships' fate if a mixed force occupies the port and agreement cannot be reached). Control of these ships will eventually go to the major power that controls both the minor country fleet counter and the port, so that the ships can be transferred to the fleet.

guess its inconclusive what happens with them as sweden dont posses a tr fleet (dont think tr was part of the game when these rules where written), i still think the game mechanism allows you to pick them up. I picked up transports in algeria with my turkish transport once.
