I liked War and Peace too, for the most part. I think the combat chit choices were...hmm...weaker than what EIA has/had to offer. War and Peace I think offered more operational manuvuer decisions than EIA. In EIA its basically build up a big stack of troops and jump the other guy's big stack. Of course you invariably had the little 1 pt corps running around to block advances.
I personally love the movement system for Le Grande Armee put out by SPI...then TSR...now the rights are owned by someone else that isn't going to do anything with it.
But... I think Matrix games has already determined that this game will be based on area movement so the debate on whether or not this game should be made like W&P is rather moot at this point. Of course, I'd like to be wrong on this point. I could certainly put together a ADC-II module to show why a Le Grande Armee movement system combined with EIA combat rules would make the PERFECT strategic/operational napoleonic wargame. Of course, at this time I'd be happy for ANY decent strategic napoleonic wargame!!!
Thanks,
Owl
