Hello from a new guy. I bought this game a few weeks ago and I am impressed to say the least. When I was in elementary school, I used to recreate the PH, Midway and Coral Sea battles by drawing dozens of little paper airplanes and ships, and using a toothpick simulate battle destruction. Eventually, I purchased the Avalon Hill game Midway, but I had no one to play it with so if I remember corectly, I just laid the game out and admired the counters. Fortunately my days of Pacific War solititude appear to be ending. The learning curve is really something, but I have spent the last couple weeks reading the manual, a couple of excellent AARs, and a good number of the 'must read' threads . I have also played the coral sea scenario several times from both sides. I feel I am ready to try my hand as the allies in the full campaign in a PBEM game. A couple of questions: - Is the stock campaign still a good way to go for PBEM? - What are the critical house rules so as to avoid the game being unbalanced by gamey tactics (if at all possible to do so).
