ORIGINAL: Dixie I believe this has been the subject of a great deal of discussion, in particular the colours of the turret roofs of the various battleships have been uncertain for a while. I believe the majority of the turret tops color issue has gotten settled with the discovery of the official U.S. Navy orders along with the period photographs that have been around forever. In addition, U.S. cruisers used colored stripes on their turret tops during this period. There is photographic evidence of this readily available as well. The biggest debate is on the color of the BBs themselves. There is supposed evidence that a color called 'Med. Blue' (which is somewhat similar to 5-S) was used on several of the BBs at Pearl, specifically the Arizona. The Arizona reverting from 5-D (dark gray) to the 'blue' color during her refit. There are also some PH salvage videos that seems to indicate a 'blue' color on some of the BBs, but until the actual official order or documentary proof is release for all to see, it will remain a very, very heated argument.
