Shark7 -> Highest fire level you've seen (2/12/2008 2:12:05 PM)

Since I just had a destroyer with 113 fires (didn't realize you could go above 100 on that), just wondering if anyone else has seen fire numbers this high?

And yes, the poor burned hulk of a destroyer sank the next day.

Terminus -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/12/2008 2:14:32 PM)

That has been known to happen. AE will take care of it...

I think my highest was 105-6...

Once. Japanese PG had 101 fires. With 99 sys and 9x flooding. Suprisingly she didn't survived.

There was a thread about this a while back - iirc, the fire levels were considerably higher (in the 200s??)

huggarn -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/12/2008 4:35:04 PM)

Had a lone destroyer strafed by Beuforts & Mosquitos it had 133 Fires and SysDam  ~50 and Flooding <10.

Was hit hard by those guns :-)

Do believe you get the burning crown of victory for the fire-ship contest. [X(]

So, if at 100% the ship is fully engulfed are we talking molten lava at 2700? See your ships didn't sink...they melted. [:D]

I don't think my sailors were too pleased with Admiral Chuck that day...

That wouldn't be a ship it would be a burning oil slick [:D]

Yava -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/13/2008 3:00:02 AM)

I saw KABOOM once... it was the ammo storage fire and then BLAST, it was 146... so... the blast was first due to a 500kg bomb and after the reply fire level was checked... heck... barbecue in 3 minutes that is... [:'(]

bradfordkay -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/13/2008 7:25:06 AM)

" I've got you all beat! I had over 2700!"

I thought that fire ships went out with the advent of steel ships... any ship with fire levels this high should be affecting other ships in the same harbor!

witpqs -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/13/2008 8:29:05 AM)

I read that after Midway crews on the Japanese carriers (presumably other ships too) scraped every bit of paint they could off of the inside of the ships, and removed many other flammables. If it ain't there it can't burn.

If it gets hot enough, even steel will burn... [X(]

witpqs -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/13/2008 8:51:58 PM)

Oxidation (rust) is sort of a very, very, very slow burning.

This is my 'record' from back in 42 [;)]

With fire level 2700+, it should be affecting other ships in the same OCEAN.

If we assume that fire level 100 (or 99) was meant to mean that anything that can burn, does burn, then fire level 2700 is enough to sent half the friggin´ Combinet Fleet to drydock for a year...

Charles2222 -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/15/2008 10:04:22 AM)

I guess pieces of the Ch.5 are in the water, or on another ship and are still burning, therefore accounting for 144. Remember the old adage: "It's not a bug, it's a feature".

histgamer -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/15/2008 10:40:08 AM)

Fire levels over 150 mean that there is a nuclear explosion going on board the ship and that all nearby ships should start melting as well as the ocean evaporating. [:D][:D][:D]

bradfordkay -> RE: Highest fire level you've seen (2/15/2008 6:35:18 PM)

I was thinking that there was an example of level 2700 fires in Halifax back in WWI...
