Gil R. -> Call for Crown of Glory testers (2/19/2008 7:19:40 AM)

We are on the verge of beginning beta-testing on “Crown of Glory: The Emperor’s Edition,” and therefore are looking to add additional testers to our team. We are especially interested in those who already have played the game and know it well, but also have a definite need for people who would like to test the new “Basic” economic setting. (As you might have read, our plan is to keep the original, highly intricate economic system, but make this the “Advanced” game – which will let those who want to focus on warfare and diplomacy pay minimal attention to managing their economy.) In addition to this very significant change, we also are adding detailed naval combat, added rules to increase historical realism, and porting over multiple features from “Forge of Freedom,” such as special abilities for units, as well as retrofitting the FOF detailed combat AI. Overall, our goal is to add some major improvements that will please those who are already hooked on the game, while making changes that should make “Crown of Glory” more widely appealing.

If you are interested, please message me, letting me know how much experience you have with COG, and also how much testing experience you have.

Hi Gil

I am interested in becoming a beta tester but i'm afraid that my english is not good enough to be an efficient one !

Nevertheless, do you intend to improve the PBEM ? I think it would be very useful to have a PBEM manager: instead of sending the files from one player to another one, which mean at least one week to play a single turn, and often three or more, all the players would send their files to the game administrator, with a defined deadline. If a player doesn't send its files on time, the turn is played without him (his nation is played by the IA, or nothing is done with his nation).

With some others french guys (Mathocle for instance...), we've just given up our third campaign (as the two previous ones) for this reason !

Der Lwe -> RE: Call for Crown of Glory testers (2/21/2008 10:38:44 AM)

Well as a newcomber in this area I would like some more information about the scope and timeframe of the effort needed to help you with this. Maybe there are others out there with the same question so thats why I ask this in open forum and not in a PM. For myself I am new to this game but I have 15 years of experiance in computer strategiegames and five yers bordgaming before that. In my profession I´m studying the operational art of war. My favorite historical era is the Napoleonic and beeing from Sweden gives mee som detailed insight in the nordic area from that time. But as I said in my original question, I realy dont know what you expect from us "volonteers".

ericbabe -> RE: Call for Crown of Glory testers (2/23/2008 5:01:49 PM)

We expect that beta testers will be able to do testing at least a few hours each week.  Testing is both for specific things that we ask testers to investigate, as well as testing for general game fitness.  Testers also engage in game design discussions, and some testers have made more direct contributions to the game, such as Jim Winsor, who created one of the scenarios for our game Forge of Freedom and also collected data on the home states of all the U.S. Civil War generals.

Grfin Zeppelin -> RE: Call for Crown of Glory testers (3/1/2008 5:08:12 AM)

Gil R. -> RE: Call for Crown of Glory testers (3/2/2008 6:43:55 AM)

We can still use some more testers. Thanks for volunteering.

And what the heck is your avatar?

Gil R. -> RE: Call for Crown of Glory testers (3/2/2008 6:58:31 AM)

This just in...

The first beta version of COG:EE is being uploaded at this very minute. Alpha-testing is behind us, beta-testing is now beginning.

The list of changes and additions is VERY impressive. And we're not done yet with these improvements. Eric or I will try to share some information in the coming days.

CORRECTION: Eric tells me that because of a technicality or two it's still an alpha version. But it can now be tested by real testers, and that's the real news.

Gem35 -> RE: Call for Crown of Glory testers (3/3/2008 4:11:33 AM)
