dulsin1 -> Frustrated with movement order (3/1/2008 3:56:46 PM)

The manual tells us in section 6.14 that Great Britan can change it's naval move order in the diplomacy phase. How does France change it's land move order?

Has the game changed this much? Or am I just missing it?

Both are changed in the reinforcement phase after patch 1.01 and I thought that patch updated the manual too.

Game change - Slightly.  The point where Britain & France select their move changes has itself
moved to the REINFORCEMENT phase.

Thanks

That's good to GB. But for France you should be able to see GB naval before you tell when you are going to move in land phase.

France CAN see GB's naval move order (since France reinforces last). However, the game's ability to properly display this in the log is sadly lacking. It seems to only get it once or twice per game.

Grognot -> RE: Frustrated with movement order (3/3/2008 7:12:14 AM)

Even if France sees that move order -- he can't see any of the actual naval moves before he chooses his order in the land sequence. That's a deviation that slightly weakens France (perhaps preventing him from attacking a stack before disembarking troops reinforce it, for instance), but removes the need for another potential round of e-mails.

That was my point. And my wish is that France could start land phase selecting when he's going to move. And GB could do the same in naval phase (ok, now this is possible during reinforcement phase)

I dont like "changes" that will slow the game even more.
And France is not weakened greatly, as are many of the "typical" alliance nations, by the lack, of real combined movement.

Considering that France is monstrously more powerful than she was in EiA, that would seem to be acceptable.

In the old game, I would have bid 25-35 for France, depending on who the opponents were going to be. In this game, I think it would be hard to lose as France bidding 50 or even more.

If you play alone against AI, this should not slow game at all.
