Big Johnson -> Free! Steel Panthers (9/22/2000 7:10:00 AM)

I am not complaining. Why is what appears to be a great looking game free? What a deal!

Hi Big. What happened I think was shell shock not only is Steel Panthers free but you can also get Pac War (soon) War in Russia (now) and they have a few more really great things coming (War in the Pacific) and keep it to yourself but they have started giving money away too (see contest and Combat Command) Once the medics or Corpsmen in white suits get here they will have to run the site from a psych ward so get everything fast. edit: I didn't mention "Wars of Napolean" this place (like most aslyums) has a lot of Napoleans running loose. ------------------ I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a differant direction! IIRC, the whole "Steel Panthers" name, game, concept, is copyright SSI/Mattel. The deal cut by Matrix with Mattel to allow the resucutation of this fine game hinged on an agreement that Matrix not charge for the game. Thus the (now) thousands of manhours of work done since vesion 1 made them a LOT of fans, but $$? Nada! Bumpkiss! Sqat! A note to all forum members: Please bear that in mind when thinking about asking for new features & "wouldn't it be cool if..." The Matrix Team (especially David) WANT to please everybody. Really! But SPWaW can never make them a dime Perhaps we should accept the features of V4 as they are. These great "cool" ideas should not be wasted though rather, let's look for these ideas to appear in a future (commercial) game. Perhaps Matrix can do a WWI game, or a game we can codename Steel Panthers 4, a good strategic fleet game, maybe something like "Harpoon" or "Tanks". Whatever. Squash the real bugs in SPWaW 4, but call it done for the features. We've all seen how Matrix responds to gamer input when working for free. Let's see how they do when we're paying them bonzo ------------------ Robert (Bonzo) Lindsay, Coordinator 28th (North-west) Battalion Headquarters http://dreadnaught.home.icq.com nwbattalion@icqmail.com

Some good things are coming. We learn as we go...and then we apply it. So yes, ideas are welcome. Thanks Bonzo....Wild Bill ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Any chance of signing Norm Koger to do Age of Rifles 2- 1840-1920 ? Game to include early tanks, indirect fire and WW1 OOBs. If yes, I wish to order now. troopie ------------------ Pamwe Chete

We are all very rich and do this for a hobby. Wild Bill can be seen driving his custom amphibious Lexus that he takes to Hawaii. Paul Vebber is part owner of the Green Bay Packers. Mike Wood lives in Siliocon Valley counting his stock options as former lead programmer at Oracle. Nick Papp is a world famous artist using an assumed name. I won the California lottery 5 yrears ago and live on the beach. I am right now watching the sunset off Catalina Island and sipping a margarita while I type this on my laptop. Any more questions? a contented Grenadier

I think the answer to my original question is like the beer commercial "why ask Why?"
