Quality affects several areas. 1. Recovering readiness. Any time this is checked A class units will have a 70% to 90% chance of recovering a point whereas D class units will be in the 20% to 40% range. The actual number depends of course on nationality. 2. In battle, when a unit takes a hit, there is a chance it will lose readiness. Whether it does so or not depends on quality. A random number is rolled and a check is made against quality, if it fails, a readiness point is lost. 3. Also in battle, quality acts as a firepower modifier. 4. When being barraged by artillery, quality modifies the chance of being hit. Overall, even when the same strength, high quality units will outlast low quality units and will be ready to go when low quality units are still needing time to rest and reinforce.
