The next time he empties the trash, play a loud 'Ding!' sound and tell him his Refuse-Disposal skill just increased.

Course if your GF or Wife looks like THIS
and you're still heavily playing video games then there's something heavily wrong with you. ;)

Phatguy -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/17/2008 10:43:53 PM)

My wife has no problem with me gaming.... For the next two weeks I'm resting my sorry ole ### at home gaming  8-10 hrs a day. She knows it. Spring break...Gotta Love it....Rugrat in Texas, so it me and the dog... She actually told me she has no probs with me gaming because I don't have the urge to get in trouble that way. No booze, no nubile young hotties etc etc.....

panzers -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/17/2008 10:43:54 PM)

I play the game a lot, not so much that it would interfere with my life, but enough that I can get some of it in and my wargame fix too. With that being said RH. Send me that girl, and that'll take care of everything for me. while your at it, send me your avatar.

ravinhood -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/17/2008 10:57:33 PM)

Oh, flashback to 1995....still a newlywed...

Just got a real job so I finally buys my first PC (P75 - woot!) but quickly made the utterly fatal mistake of purchasing Panzer General AND the original X-COM at the same time...

That poor chicka didn't stand a chance.....[:o]

pvthudson01 -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/18/2008 1:52:49 AM)

My issues are World of Warcraft and wargames, I hardly ever touch my XBOX 360 which is really weird

Gem35 -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/18/2008 3:15:50 AM)

Computer games don't take a back seat to anything, let alone women.[;)]

klhbekool -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/18/2008 3:27:18 AM)

My wife doesn't mind my gaming at all. I help her out around the house and with our 3.5 yera old daughter; all the bills are paid and we have money in the bank. No strip clubs and no time to hit on our hot baby-sitter cuz my wife let's me do my war thing plus she gets hers whenever she wants--and sometimes I get it as much as I want so all is good.

Gem35 -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/18/2008 3:36:09 AM)

Retraction....
Women can take the front seat if it involves hot babysitters...

Panzer General and X-Com... [:D] man those were the days. Glued to the screen, heck even now I remember the maps from PG.

Doesn't that asiatic girl has something "weird" ...something a little "too big" in here pants????[&:]...or it's just me that am afflicted by 21st century sexual paranoias?

BvB -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/25/2008 9:57:01 AM)

This has always been trouble for me. Back in the 70s and 80s I would have board wargames set up and then hide them under a bed to avoid squabbles.  One girl I lived with complained I spent more time with the games than with her and announced either the games go or she does.  I just looked at her and didnt say anything and then she starts crying how I actually had to think about it!
I sure hope they have wargames in heaven!

Well at least my wife never did what my mother did to me once... classic wargamer's horror story: 6 days worth of setting up and playing Richard Berg's Gettysburg with two buddies of mine (remember that game?), and my mother one morning goes into my room and (casually) folds the map and all the counters and puts everything back in the box, cause "she badly needed to clean up that pigsty...!" I'll never forget what she said afterwards:"Just continue the game from where you left off! What's the big deal??.." [:@]

LMAO hahahah Is yer mommy also blond? ;)

BvB -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/25/2008 7:40:58 PM)

aaaahhhh that is horrible!!! I guess we have all had similar experiences with the uninformed kids, spouses, parents and pets messing up a game, or in the army a nasty First Sergeant coming through the barracks.
At home on leave I set up Terrible Swift Sword Gettysburg on a ping pong table and my sisters cat jumped up on the thing and started batting the counter stacks around like they were toys! Luckily I caught him and stopped him before it was unfixable.
Another time a live in girlfriend mad that I didnot spend sufficient time on her purposely bumped the map to knock over stacks on a War in the East monster map. She got my attention as it was one of the few times I got real mad at her. So for a few days we slept in seperate rooms. One night I decided to make up after a night of drinking with friends at the NCO Club, and proceeded to sneak into bed with her not knowing she had gone to make up with me and went to my room. Unknown to me a girlfriend of hers was staying over and in her bed. So I had slipped into bed with the wrong girl, put a hand on her boobs and passed out (back in my drinking days). She got up and woke my girl to say what had happened. I was extremely embarrassed the next day when they told me what had happened!

BvB -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/25/2008 11:47:48 PM)

Back around '74 when I was stationed in Germany I recall a friend writing me that while he was away in college his mother decided to clean house and THREW AWAY a bunch of his games!  Some were old SPI from when they first started publishing, some were Avalon Hill, and some others that you cant find. I was more pissed than him wishing I had been given a chance to buy them before they went to the trash can... [:(]

You guys reminded me of the time my mom walked into my room without knocking which of course could not have been at the worst possible moment.
I was playing my Iron Maiden record LP, and the first thing she heard was "6! 6! 6! The Number Of The Beast!"
Boy, did she freak! After she left the room, I looked around for a good hiding place when a flash of inspiration appeared!
my closet had 2 sliding doors, so the 2 sides were always facing each other. I got some duct tape, and taped that wonderful album to the inside of one of the closet doors so when my mom would open the closet the album was sandwiched in between the two doors! [:D]
I could tell she was looking for that album because when I came home from school my things were moved a little bit!
She never found that record! [:D]

Gem35 -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/26/2008 5:12:35 AM)

Awww, Mom's are great , who doesn't love their mother?
She loves you despite your faults and so should you, it's called unconditional love! [sm=00000924.gif]

Gem35 -> RE: OK For you Gaming Guys with GF/Spouses (3/26/2008 5:34:15 AM)

It's 2... 2 minutes to midnite!

That brings back some bad memories.......

And what the heck goes on inside the cats brain that tells it that your wargame is a combination bed and play area ?

There's no such thing as unconditional love, because unconditional IS a condition. ;)

Yeah, I had to make an appointment with my mom for taking up table space for Star Fleet Battles. I'll never forget the look of confusion on my sister's faces when we used terms like "Turn radius" and allocation sheets"

That brings back memories of how much my mother hated my Slayer cds (and posters). She didn't try to toss them, so I never hid them but I never heard the end of how much she disliked them. I DID however have a gigantic porn stash hidden under my sock drawer, which amazingly my mom never found, although I'm farily sure my dad borrowed from it a few times [8D]
