M1 Tanker -> Combat Resolution Window Invisible (3/20/2008 9:04:47 AM)

My operating system is VISTA and periodically after a battle finishes or at the start of a turn (after bookkeeping), the combat resolution or newsreal windows are not visible and only two dark gray parallel lines (about the size of the resolution window) appears horizontally. Hitting ENTER clears the locking effect and brings up the newsreel window but causes the combat resolution to continue to the next battle without showing the results. I recall reading a thread about this problem with VISTA along with a procedure to make it visible without losing chance to view. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Bill

I just had to buy a new computer with vista, and I was looking for the same thing.

Thanks, el cid. I don't have the same functions as those mentioned in the thread, but I turned off the screen saver and adjusted the refresh rate. Will see if this helps.

This is not Vista related - it occurs in XP too. It's a bug that's just too intermittent to be fixed. When the above occurs, try to locate the buttons that control the panel - they're still operational, and their names will show up in the info panel below when you are over them. Click one that goes to one of the other views and I think the problem will vanish.

Are you sure? If you have a TOAW3 icon on your desktop, or wherever you have it, right click on it and a menu will pop-up. In the bottom of the menu you will see "properties", click on it. A window will open with a few tabs. The third tab should read "compatibility" or something alike. There you should find all those options.

I have vista, and I have this same effect [&:] And in my new computer this weird thing is -> ALWAYS. I don't see any combat resolution window at all! Additionally in other windows don't work up/down buttons. On my old p3 600mhz and winxp everything works ok.

Hi,

Please follow the link that el cid was kind enough to post above, and look in that thread for von pryz's post where he explained what he did to solve this kind of problem. Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, it may be a driver issue with your hardware. That is an odd size for a display, and with laptops, or tablet pc's, you generally don't have much in the way of ongoing driver support. The link you provided says that it uses XP Tablet Edition for the OS. Is this true, or does it use some flavor of Vista, as you stated in your first post?
