Ok, here's the scenario. I'm playing GB and have troops inside Paris for the diplomacy phase. I have a garrison in several French provinces and have them selected for my victory conditions. No when France surrenders unconditionally, I keep the provinces, and the forced access, and the leader. However, the garrisons I had are missing. They aren't sent to an already owned territory or anything, just missing altogether. If I can figure out how to capture the file and send it in I will but that's basically the bug...

Have you checked your forthcoming reinforcement pool?
They may have been returned there.

Here's a file showing the bug Adrian's talking about, which, as noted in another thread, is probably a version of the D30 bug; only, in this case, as in Adrian's, it's not a second surrender. This is the British diplomacy phase, with a French surrender coming. It's still the original war from 1805.

Britain has several French provinces garrisoned, and is demanding three southern ones as a peace condition. The garrison in Brittany, which does not change hands, will be repatriated to England, as is correct. The garrisons in the south should be allowed to remain, since they are in what becomes British territory, but they disappear--and are not repatriated, just vanish.

Thanks ndrose, that was exactly my point. The garrison should stay put. It appears this has already been reported?

Thanks all...

Similar things have been reported, but in those other cases the garrisons were in previously ceded provinces, not about-to-be-ceded ones. Marshall and Richard will have to figure out whether they're all really the same bug; it should help them to know about as many variations of circumstance as we see.

So, so far we have disappearing garrisons in three situations, by my count:

1) As here, garrisons in unceded provinces disappear when they are ceded by peace treaty.

2) Garrisons in ceded provinces from a previous war disappear upon second surrender.

3) Garrisons placed in ceded provinces after peace but during temp access disappear when temp access ends.

Hey guys:

I loaded and ran this scenario and the problem was that the evac function was looking at the original owner. The ceded provinces should NOT have been evaced. I should have this fixed in the next patch which looks to be 1.02h.
