Steve Petersen -> Installing Enhanced DVRN 2008 (3/28/2008 5:36:52 PM)

I am currently running version 8.403 and have downloaded the enhanced DVRN 2008 to My Dowload folder. How do I install Enhanced 2008?

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to try it.

To install the mod, we will use a special utility called the "ModSwap". This powerful tool allows us to install the mod while creating "back-ups" of the original files. So later, if we choose so, we can always uninstall the mod, and everything will be back to normal. So switching between SPWaW v8.403 and SPWaW v8.403 ENHANCED is quite easy!

Open up the ModSwap (you'll find it among the other SPWaW applications under the Start menu). Select "File/Install..." Browse to the folder where you have the mod. If you don't see the mod immediately, change the "Files of type" to appropriate type .Now you should see it. Simply click on the mod, and hit "Open". In the screen that follows, select "OK".

This is it! You have successfully installed the mod!

No. Having problems. When I downloaded the Enhanced DVRN the file saved as an unknown type. I move the 2008 file to the Matrix Games folder. I then tried to install the 2008 files I selected to open the 2008 Enhanced DVRN but got an error message saying I required SPWAW version 8.2 installed first. I am currently running 8.403 after upgrading from the CD of General's Edition directly to 8.30 and 8.40.

I saw in another thread that if you bought and installed the General's Edition (as I did) that somehow 8.2 doesn't show up as installed.

something wierd goes on with that edition.
Some have changed the text in the Mod.ini file and that makes it work
If you open the mod file and find the mod.INI file (looks like a gear on paper)
open it up and change this line, then save it.

Game Version Required=v8.2-8.403 <-------------------

change it to simply say 8.403 and I think that will do it.
you have to save it, do not extract it anywhere.

I got the file to save in the Matrix folder as a zip file and I found the mod.ini folder in there and changed the line, but where should I save it? Back in the zip file? or out in another folder in Matrix?

Do I need to unzip the 2008 DVRN first? If so, to which folder?

FlashfyreSP -> RE: Installing Enhanced DVRN 2008 (3/29/2008 12:42:37 PM)

Save the mod.ini back into the Mod file itself.
The Mod file is named as an .SPM file, which is simply a renamed .ZIP file (SPM stands for Steel Panthers Mod).
The .ini file is the "instruction sheet" that tells ModSwapper what files to replace and where...

When you go to close the text file after making the change inthat line, it should ask you to save it or 'overwrite' or something of that nature...say yes

DO NOT UNZIP

Steve Petersen -> RE: Installing Enhanced DVRN 2008 (3/29/2008 6:50:36 PM)

I copied the mod.ini file to my desktop, changed it to read 'Game Version Required=v8.403', then pasted the copy back to the 2008 zip folder. I then ran ModSwap and rather getting an error that said I needed to install version 8.20 it told me I needed to install version 8.40. So I am making progress. If I could change the version required to "General's Edition" I might get there.

arrrrggg...well try putting in XXX instead of specific version,
or simply change the 8.2-8.403 part to 8.3-8.403
see if that works
