Here's the standard reply form:

Use smoke to conceal your advance, and if you have arty in support, smoke the enemy positions as well. They can't shoot what they can't see ;)

Close in with your mech SS and get the enemy guns under fire. When they are suppressed enough/pinned down, close in with the Tigers and finish them off.

Remember that the number one priority for the German tanks was the AT guns - that's what they are used for. Enemy tanks are dealt with AT guns/StuGs and infantry, if available.

Someone asked the zookeeper how he handled the cobra snake. His answer: "Very carefully."

Did your Mom and Dad teach you to look both ways before crossing the street? Same here. If you insist upon going out in the open with a large object, the chances are very high you will be fired upon. If they hit you, there is a correspondingly high percentage of damage and/or personal injury.

Find a different way to approach the enemy. If all else fails, try Tex Ritter's famous advice: "Smoke, smoke, smoke (that cigarette) .. smoke until you smoke yourself to death."

Smoke is your best friend viz a viz movement in combat. Like certain beverages and good looking women, there never seems to be enough smoke available. Use it wisely.

Be careful out here.

P.S. You can also pound the enemy senseless with artillery, if you have it. Even a pair of dinky 50mm mortars will keep their heads down for a minute of two.
