HQ and CPs can help rally broken units and a CP adds a bonus to your troops morale if they are within 5 hexes.

By destroying your opponent's HQ, you have just made it a LOT easier to beat him. His force will have trouble rallying, and if you inflict enough damage (destroyed/dispersed units) his moral will break and unit will have trouble maintianing morale good enough to fight.

As I said, a CP (the tent thingies) adds to the morale of any unit within five hexes. It therefore helps them to rally and to not break. CPs also add command points.

Two other benefits of destroying your opponents HQ: Besides a few large tanks, the HQ is the highest point-value unit(200 or so)...and if he doesn't have a forward observer you've also created a larger delay in his arty's arrival time.

You've also inflicted heavy suppression on the units around the HQ and inflicted, if it's the AO unit you destroyed, a big hit on the enemy's force morale.

i noticed the surpression myself, he had about 3rifle squads a maxim mg a 76.2 in the area, finished them all of with 8rads and halftracks, without they firing a shot
