ORANGE -> Nationals Game (3/31/2008 3:24:19 PM)

I was at the Nationals game last night. Great stadium, great event, bad parking. This place was packed. The food selection is better than the old stadium and the beer selection is adequate, not that I am picky. It was cold. The opening ceremony was god with a flyover of F-16's? I have to say that there were helicopters flying around all day and by the time the jets flew over it was so dark you could hardly see them but it was still neat. The crowd booed the Braves as they were introduced which I thought was tasteless but then when they started introducing the starters there was some good clapping. I missed Mayor Fenty but he was supposed to of said "Washington, let's play ball!" and I like him so I was a little bummed at that. The first pitch was thrown out by the President and there were some boos but they were by far drowned out by the clapping and whistling. The Nats went up two in the first inning and the Braves did not tie it up until the last inning which pissed me off because it was cold and I was ready to get out of there by then. Zimmerman saved the night by getting the game winning home run. I only wish it was the first home run in the stadium but it wasn't. This is a great venue for baseball and it does look like the stadium will revitalize that area of DC. Now I have to go when it is not so cold out. [:@]
