Saso -> CVs Battle (4/1/2008 1:08:52 PM)

Hi guys,

exactly, how does the battle between Cvs work?

All aircraft take off and attack in contemporary or before attack one side?

wild_Willie2 -> RE: CVs Battle (4/1/2008 1:24:21 PM)

In 99% of the cases, Cv's will spot each other at the same time (at least if you have some planes out searching) and will attack at the same time...

The only way this will change is one CV group running into bad weather and being unable to launch... When this happens, the side that can't launch is f*cked...

Thanks wild_Willie2

The question was born because I saw always the allied CV start the attack first...

John Lansford -> RE: CVs Battle (4/1/2008 2:31:59 PM)

I guess that would depend on who has the better detection level over the other CV force, and that in turn would depend on where the fight took place.  If the Jap CV's were in waters heavily patrolled by the Allies, then the initiative would go to them, and vice versa if they were in Japanese patrolled waters.

Like the others have said, though, it doesn't really matter most of the time who launches/attacks first, because it's assumed both sides' strike forces pass in mid-flight.

Most of the time.

you see always the Allies to attack first during the replay (but the attacks of both sides are flown at the same time). Would be a bit problematic to show all attacks that were flown in one phase at the same time during the replay.

Ok, I wasn't sure if they attack at the same time or not...thanks [:)]

Anytime.
If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask them. At this forum we don't mind answering questions (exept maybe for Terminus which has been a bit grumpy for the last weeks...[;)][:D][:D][:D][:D][;)])

1.  Feinder's CVs spot enemy CV TF.
2.  Feinder's CVs react into enemy LBA range.
3.  Feinder's CVs launch alpha-strike vs. nearby enemy MSW TF.
4.  Feinder's CVs lauch tiny, unescorted strike vs. enemy CVs.
4.  Fiender's CVs are vaporized by enemy alpha-strike.

Well in this case, my carriers did exactly what I wanted them to do, which was to sink his landing ships. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't what I needed them to do, cause it allowed him to get a nasty first strike in and reduced my strike package for the counter strike.

It was a nasty turn anyway, I had 2 suffer fuel storage explosions and I know his one had an ammo storage explosion. That many criticals in 1 strike/counter-strike is pretty unusual in itself.
