leeman67 -> Extra point play-calling logic in profiles (4/5/2008 6:48:09 PM)

Just a general question if anyone might know - is there a way to edit the profile as it relates to play-calling on point-after-TD plays? Reason I ask is that I would like to create a profile that forces a team to choose either a run or pass play instead of a placekick on all extra point plays. I'm trying to recreate a WFL season and under WFL rules teams had to go for an "action point" from the 5 yard line. So I'm trying to simulate this. The XFL was similar to this as well. My goal is to recreate separate NFL, CFL, USFL, WFL, AFL, etc. and be as accurate as possible with the different rule sets.

Thank you [:)]

There was a discussion of Action Points about a year ago, but the I believe the file modification solution is no longer viable.

The game already allows 7 point TD's.

Two changes would have to be made to the game for "action points": it would require the ability to turn off the kick as an option and would also require the conversion to be set to one point only.

I suspect some leagues may want to do away with extra point tries and conversions altogether, and that would take similar changes.

What may work is to not allow two point conversions in the league, which would force any extra point to be one point only even if run or passed in, and then make sure the kicking plays were runs or passes in the playbook. The one drawback would be that the kicker would not be as good as a quarterback in the play.

Of course, allowing for an "action point" within the game setup would work better over the long term.

Ive always thought it would be nice to nix the XP completely(as an option of course)

I would prefer just TDs and FGs.

The WFL had a 7 point TD and an Action Point conversion.

The XFL had a 6 point TD with a 1 point non-kick conversion under regulation time, so the defense could run back a pick or fumble for 1 point.

Both of these would be easier to simulate if the conversion points could be set and the kick try could be turned off.

Thanks for that response.  Yes, I was going w/ 7 point TD's and no 2 pt conversion in order to at least close to how the rules were.
