Grognot -> Ally call during an enforced peace ?! (4/12/2008 8:34:32 AM)

AI GB called my Russia to support an offensive war against France; my Russia refused, breaking the alliance.

Bug: GB *wasn't allowed* to call Russia, since Russia had an enforced peace of 14 months w/ France.

GB is allowed to call who ever she wants as an ally, if that ally can't DoW due to enforced peace then the alliance is broken.

This is a good & valid tactic to redcue the Political Status & reduce the cost of a later DoW of someone who is not wanted as an ally anymore.

Page 34 of the manual explicitly states that "If any ally cannot declare war because of an enforced peace restriction, that ally may not be called upon." -- 6.3.1.

It would help if you read the rules and actually knew what you were talking about, both in the original boardgame and now in computer EiA, you could not call an ally to war if they had an enforced peace with the war prospect.

Quite correct

4.3.1.4: If any ally cannot declare war because of peace-time restrictions (an enforced peace-see 4.4.6.3), that ally may not be called upon. If an ally cannot declare war for other reasons (see 4.2.2. 1 and 4.2.2.2), the ally can still be called and, since the call cannot be answered, will be forced to break its alliance.

It tends not to be an issue in real EIA as cals to allies are discussed, rather than a random die roll by a computer.

Thank you for condesendingly pounting out my error.
