Who will reign as the greater Florida team? My Marlins or... those... other guys...

Wow, who would have thought that the Rays could get it turned around by 2011.  Based on records your Marlins should be able to win another one, but the team with the best talent doesn't always win the big one.

Also does it really count if neither team will have fans at the ballpark during the series?  Just kidding.  [:D]

By the way, who did the Rays get through in the AL to make the WS?

Go Rays !!!

GNDN -> RE: A Grapefruit World Series (4/17/2008 5:32:50 PM)

Must have some kind of dog fight in the AL East.  Did they win the division with 88 wins?  If so, by how many games?

Taz & GNDN,

This screenshot should answer your questions:

Tampa?  KC?  AND Texas?  I can see MLB.com now:  2011:  Revenge of the Doormats

Now, FS, don't be such a tease:  you have shown us the AL standings, how about the Senior Circuit standings?

Taz0713 -> RE: A Grapefruit World Series (4/18/2008 12:53:34 AM)

Thanks for the screen shot.  By the way it is nice to see the Yankees back where they belong.  [:D]

So are you still playing out all of your games?

Frozen Stiffer -> RE: A Grapefruit World Series (4/18/2008 12:56:18 AM)

Taz,

I certainly am! As you can see, we had to really bite and claw our way to our wins this year in the post-season; no 4-0 floats for us! Though I respect everyone's preference, personally there is nothing like playing each and every game, seeing your players in action and getting to "know" them, in an odd, bizarre sort of way.

It is amazing to see that you still manage game by game and still have this association going.  It says something, as I just need to stick with a season for better or worse.  I am trying, but work has kept me from playing very much.

Thanks for sharing.

GNDN,

What good is a tease if you don't eventually deliver? See below:

Taz,

I completely understand. It's not always possible to make one association and run that one to the ground. Not counting those on PAUSE, I'm currently running 3 associations- the one you've seen here is my Marlins dynasty started in 2006. I play this one on my work PC.

I also recently started a 2006 association as the KC Royals- they had a horrible record that year and I wanted to challenge myself by seeing if I can make them into serious contenders. Reaching the post-season or the World Series as the Yankees or Red Sox is one thing, doing it as an underpowered, talent-challenged and under-financed club is something completely different. I run that association on my home desktop.

The third active association runs on my laptop; it's one of my two fictional associations (the other one is on hold pending Shaun aid on repairing a problem). This one started in 98 and is currently about 50 games into the 2005 season.

The reason I'm running so many is so that when I do have time, whether it's out and about (laptop) at home (desktop) or at work (work PC), I can get into the game. I do still play all of these associations game-by-game. It takes a while to do of course, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

It is amazing to see that the NL Central is still down.  How does a Brewers team with a record less than .500 win the division.  Even worse the Cubbies are still losing.  [:@]

It seems to be a very balanced and competitive National League.  (Well with the exception of the Central).

Man this is a real Slap in the face.....How in god's name did Texas lose to the Royals???? and what are the Royals even doing in the postseason anyway?

GNDN -> RE: A Grapefruit World Series (4/19/2008 10:14:04 PM)

Nice to see my Mets reverting to form.  Thanks for sharing, FS, it looks like 2011 was quite fun to watch unfold.
