Leea25 -> Steel Panthers World at War DirectDraw error (4/29/2008 11:03:06 PM)

Hi there,

I'm trying to run Steel Panthers World at War 8.4 on a very new Windows XP machine with Direct X 9c and all I get is "DirectDraw Initialization Error #2147467263".

I've scoured the internet and found plenty of mention of the problem, or similar ones, but no solution. I've tried running direct from mech.exe with the same result.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Many thanks,
Lee

Try reinstalling your video card driver. Also run Dxdiag.exe using Run on the Start menu and run the video tests for Direct X. That should tell you if something is wrong with your drivers or Direct X.

Thanks a lot - all seems ok. It tells me there are "no problems".

I don't have this problem with any other games... but I really want to play Steel Panthers!!![:)]
Heeelp!

Thanks,
Lee

I am now getting this exact same error. On both of my pc's. It use to work but I haven't played in a while and now it gets this error. One is a laptop the the other a tower. Both running XP Pro but obviously they have different video cards so I find it unlikely that a driver problem would develop on both of them. Does anyone have any additional suggestions besides reinstalling the video drivers? I really hate to mess with that because computers suck and I would just be asking for problems with other programs.

I am stumped. The same Direct draw error is cropping up on my PCs as well.

Are there any solutions?
