SteveF2006 -> Base question (5/10/2008 5:55:39 PM)

Why is it that when I look for a ship or an aircraft, they are catorgorized by country first, then ship or aircraft. But when I add a base, the name of the base is first then the country? Would it be difficult to make the bases like the rest? It sure makes it easier to quickly find a countries available bases! [:'(]

I can't answer the why.  What I can say is that the installations list is still sorted by Country even if country isn't the first column.  I also know I like that country isn't first.  Most of my scenarios are test scenarios and use Keflavik Iceland.  My shortcut is to press k a whole bunch of times (aka hold it down) until I get to Keflavik.  If country were the first column, that wouldn't work for me.

So my opinion would be not to change the list.

OK... what if you just typed "IC" and it would take you stright to all of Icelands installations. You'd get there in half the time. The problem with putting the name of the installation before the country is that as you are building a scenario, you don't always know the names of all of the possible intallations. Just a thought! Hehe, well, the SE is pretty stone age, I could type i but not ic.  My thing is that I usually do know the name of the installation I want, but not always the country (born and raised in geographically inept USA), just sharing my preference, not saying I won't budge to the will of others but you'd better rally some troops to your cause.

Also of note is that one of the HC3 members wants to be able to filter the list of installations by country name so you may get what you want in a way anyway in that you'll only see installations for the selected country.  It is one of two items on my to do list.
