Hello All,

Being a Newbie and wanting to get the full effect of the game as the USA. I am starting to learn the various game mechanics. My main question is:

1. How does the automatic convoy system work?
2. I know how to assign transposts and escorts to it, but they never moved. They just sat in port. Do I have to load them or what?
3. What bases/Ports will they go to first? Especially if I turn on all of my ports for automatic convoys?
4. This sems to be a great asset as it would keep sending supplies to whatever base/port needed them. Is this correct?
5. Do I need escorts with the transports for them to do this or can I assign just transports to this duty?

I would really appreciate some answers so I can get the full effect of this brilliant game....[&o]

Hello All,

Being a Newbie and wanting to get the full effect of the game as the USA. I am starting to learn the various game mechanics. My main question is:

1. How does the automatic convoy system work?

Not Very Good

2. I know how to assign transposts and escorts to it, but they never moved. They just sat in port. Do I have to load them or what?

See #1 above

3. What bases/Ports will they go to first? Especially if I turn on all of my ports for automatic convoys?

See #1 above...for me the allied auto-convoys head to Japanese controlled bases.

4. This sems to be a great asset as it would keep sending supplies to whatever base/port needed them. Is this correct?

Suppose to work that way, but See #1 above

5. Do I need escorts with the transports for them to do this or can I assign just transports to this duty?

IIRC, if you label the escorts as part of the auto-convoy system, they will be assign to TFs

I gave up on the auto-convoy system. For me it is much easier to create the resupply convoy....assign the destination....then click the "human control" button until is says "CS: destination". That TF will then automatically load, go to the destination, unload, return to the home port, automatically reload supply....repeat.

I've never had a lot of luck using the automatic convoy routine; the manual says that the AC works only when the destination port gets low on supplies, but I never saw one work either.

What I do if I want continuous convoys to run is this: form a TF, tell it to load supplies or fuel, give it a destination and then click on the "manual" label.  It will change to "CS:xxx" where "xxx" is the name of the destination port.  After that, the TF will run between those two ports, loading supplies in the first base and delivering them to the second, then returning and repeating the process.

Do that with a few TF's between the West Coast and Pearl Harbor, and then from PH to other major ports, and you'll be ok.

Thank you Charbroiled.

That is what I thought would be easier. it just takes alot more work up front but I guess it is worth it. I just thought I would just have to turn the bases on and assign ships and it would work, silly me[&:]
