It just allowed me, as the Union, to build two plantations in the first city I took in Kentucky. I suspect that was not supposed to happen?

Which version are you playing? This was a bug I believe we fixed in one of the patches.

It tells me on the updater that I have the latest. I have the download version.

Well, maybe you can build plantations in Kentucky.

Translation: We don't remember whether this was deliberate or not (probably not), and will have to look into it. Might as well enjoy the ability to build plantations, in the meantime. Odd that no one has ever before raised this issue. With thousands of players, you'd think someone would have questioned it.

I did take Kentucky from the CSA in this game. I hope that helps.

Well it does make sense since during sherman's march to the sea, they lived off of the plantations so they would have that benifit and the northerners benifited from plantations in occupied kentucky and missouri

I noticed it. I thought it was WAD (Working As Designed).

Probably WAD if the AI was building them when you captured the CSA settlement. I don't remember right now but i don't think the Plantations would be destroyed (and replaced with mansions) when a slave-state territory changes ownership.

I selected two to build. On the next turn, they were unavailable to build. That's when I decided I wasn't supposed to be able to build them.
