What kind of music do you listen to while yall are gaming? I like classical or big band or standards. Something easy on the ears and still allows me to concentrate on the game :)

I usually listen to talk radio. Late at night, when I often play, coast to coast with its wierdo's is a nice backdrop for me. [:)]

Feltan

Classical all the way.

Nothing like the 1812 Overature with the cannon finale to get you into the wargaming mood.

Other favorites are the William Tell overature, The ride of the Valkries and Night on Bald Mountain.

I don't listen to music ever while playing.

When I'm playing UV I usually listen to the relaxing sounds of Glenn Miller or music from that era using www.pandora.com

When I play Carriers at War I use the games sound.

Like the others, wether I play music or not depends upon the game. But if I do listen to some music it is usually some kind of metal, or I go to warriorradio and listen to that.

I only ever really 'listen' to in-game music while playing. Most of it is pretty good IMHO and in a few games outstanding, Pathologic and Sins of a Solar Empire spring to mind. I love the music in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. too, like much good movie music it really heightens the mood almost without you being aware of it. Period stuff, as is included with most ACW games, is also good. And in a couple of cases the music has simply become an essential part of the game experience. I wouldn't think of playing TOAW without the music; I've just known those tunes so long now.

The only game that I would play the music with was WitP-it is strangely mesmerizing. With all others, I will let it play for about 20-30 seconds-that's enough to remind me of the sound track. In a few games, I will leave the combat sounds on very low. The sounds of combat are useful as a tip that something is going on someplace other than were I happen to be zoomed in on.

OK, so you took the words right out of my mouth.

sports talk radio. How are you going to listen to music when 9 times out of 10 the music is coming from the game? That way I can have my wargame and sports fix at the same time.

sabre1 -> RE: Music While Gaming (6/8/2008 7:59:41 PM)

Generally listen to what the game comes with, or just turn it off.

If you like classical, take a listen to the soundtrack of the movie Master and Commander. In particular, starting at 4:25 there's a catchy tune.

If you're into the Campaign Series, you'll know the included music is pretty up to setting the mood. Otherwise, anything except pop.
