zaxilon -> Request for Official System Req's to run SPWAW. (3/30/2002 1:54:49 PM)

I have searched this web page high and low looking for the system reqs to run the later versions of SPWAW, including V7.1. I have even posted on the SPWAW forum but got only guesses and thoughts on the subject. The only official info I could locate on the webpage was the Windows is required. IF it is not too much to ask could you please provide us with the exact system req's to run this game. Before I get somebody to download the game and burn me a CD and buy the Mega Campaign I would like to know if I can run it. Not everybody has the latest chipset and mega graphics cards. I am kind of surprised that Matrix does not have this information included on the FAQ's for its games. This kind of info seems to me to be an obvious necessity if you want people to use your product. But then again perhaps I am the only one on the planet who does not have a 1.6GHZ chipset with 512MB ram and a 3D graphics card with 256MB ram and the latest Sensorama Sound system wired to my computer.

Thanks,
Zaxilon

:D

SPWaW is a true Windows games and does not require DOS. SPWaW will run on Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / XP. SPWaW will also run under OS/2 and Linux as well. It requires DirectX 6.1 and will run on as little as any Pentium based system with 32mb of RAM (64mb is recommended though) and almost any video card will due. Hardware acceleration is not required. A 3D video card is not required nor will it improve the performance, a sound card (it won't run without one). I have an old Pent 120 with minumum specs and Win 98 that I keep around for my kids and to prove minimum specs are still valid. I hope this answers your question.

You really need 64MB of Ram of several features like the VCR will not work.

I have played it on an old Pentium (non-MMX) 166 with a 4 MB Stealth video card under WIN 98 SE and 64MB RAM that was my "minimum test machine". It took its time in big scenarios, but was playable.

zaxilon -> A big Thanks !!! (3/31/2002 2:40:38 AM)

Hey guys! Thanks for the quick, kind and very informative response !!! I knew I could count on you guys to come through for me. Still running V1.0. Cant wait for 7.1 to hit the download slot. I have a lot of catching up to do. :D

zaxilon: As a 3 week veteran of SPWaW, I have found this forum and the guys using it to be very helpful. It certainly has improved my play but not always my score or win/loss ratio. BTW, 7.1 is out...I'm running it now (see other posts, it is on The Armor Site as well as other places I suspect). If the game hooks you, it can take you in any number of directions to include the Mega Campaigns...my personal favorite is Operation Watchtower. Highly recommend you take to plunge.

Have fun...and be prepared to lose alot of sleep.

zaxilon -> Been running V1.0 since it went public (4/3/2002 6:32:11 AM)

Thanks but I took the plunge a long time ago. I was designing scenarios and campaigns on the Talonsoft West Front format for Wild Bill as one of the Raiders Scenario Design Team before SPWAW came out. We all got a copy of V1.0 before it went public. I have been running it eversince. Dont have the capabilities to download it myself. I just found a friend who can and will download V6.1 for me and I can patch to V7.1. But I didnt know if the system reqs had changed so much that I couldnt run the later versions. I am posting another question on this board about installing V6.1. Thanks, this is a great game.

Later,
Zaxilon :D
