Iridium -> New Installation + CHS woes... (6/17/2008 1:55:29 AM)

Well, my PC demanded a hard wipe and a clean OS install so I took this opportunity to reinstall WitP with the newest CHS I could find etc for a new game to tide me over till AE comes out. That said, since my OS is Vista the auto-installations do not work and after spending 10 mins or so reading and manually installing said mods into the proper folders (or at least what I thought was proper) I used the mod-select program, selected AB's extended map with CHS art and let it do it's thing. I then attempt to run WitP and end up with a "Fatal Error 999", I can only assume I've either screwed up the install, demanding a complete install from scratch or the wonder that is Vista is demanding a few sacrifices. Anyone have any ideas? [:D]

This thread in the tech support forum seems like a similar problem you are having.
Good luck.[:)]

Hmm, seems like a Vista issue then...Guess I'll attempt to install on my C:\ drive as per usual rather than getting fancy.[:@]

Thanks, didn't notice that thread after a hurried search for anything titled "Fatal Error 999".

I have Vista and had problems until I followed the instructions EXACTLY for manual install of the maps and CHS. No problems after that.

Fatal error means : "REINSTALL".

Be sure to deinstall first...
