Job hunt has slowed right down (it's summer after all), so I'm working AE and weight-loss, waiting for potential employers to come back to work.

people take long summer vacations over there or are you applying for the academic field?

Black bears are the most aggressive. I would not want to be that person under the car.

Note and disclaimer. Total historical editorial here....no political affiliations, agenda,or relation to current politics should be implied.

Not that I'm a Kennedy fan either, but no he wasn't. Kennedy was a back room wheeler and dealer and had the subtly and smarts to get things done...for all the good AND bad that brings with it.

LBJ was neither subtle, nor particularly brilliant. What, IMHO, is most impressive about his legacy is that he was willing to back the civil rights bills. Something that Kennedy for all his talk was unwilling to do. Then again, LBJ brought us the "great society" and Vietnam war escalation. That puts him firmly on the bottom tier of Presidents in my book as both have since proven to not have worked out very well.

niceguy2005 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/22/2008 8:00:21 PM)

It will pick back up again.

niceguy2005 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/22/2008 8:01:49 PM)

It had better or it will be time to send out the posse.

great society might have worked if he didn't funnel all of it's money to the vietnam war. now vietnam was a disaster but i think it is a disaster that nixon or kennedy would have also walked right into.
