Thank Thread it's not... Then I'd have a whole workday to look forward to, rather than a whole weekend...[:'(]

Finally fixed GF's stupid Apple. Think i'll go for Round II with Bootcamp just for giggles. [:D]

How did you fix it (and what was the problem)?

Leo "Apollo11"

Used Bootcamp to create a windows XP partition on her new Imac. This time bootcamp did not work as advertised and corrupted the OS-X volume which after two painful bootups went to the White screen of death you see every time you turn one on where it would then freeze. Disk utilities attempted to repair the volume but though it claimed success, it was not...the volume would still not boot up OS-X. In order to save GF's info on the corrupted volume....installed OS-X on the former WinXp partition, connected it to GF's laptop Apple and copied the entire former OS-X volume to that computer's disk. Reformatted the entire Imac....reinstalled OS-X a 2nd time, transferred over pertient files from former OS-X volume.

You know Robert, there was a time that you posted on the Anti-thread, rather than trying to stomp out the poor under-dog of a thread's 3.5 minutes of occassional glory.[:D] So when did you become an oppressive tool of "the man"? [:D] Part of "the establishment"? [:D] For shame! [:-][:D]

Ah, sometimes i forget myself... in the words of "Little Milton", i can be thick as a brick... [:-] [:'(]

That's alright....Bobo will do enough stomping on the "other thread" for everyone. Just wait till he wakes up....about noon! [:D]

10am thank you very much.[:'(] i haven't been drinking since monday so you are not so fortunate.

I'll bet Elvis has a copy [;)]

BTW:

Here is a link to the story that just came out (radio beat the internet to this, i guess...[:D])

Its a shame the first thing the NASA guy has to do is reassure us that they're not creating anything in the process. Must be tough convincing the aluminum foil wearing types.

i think we should all be issued large wooden mallets to bop them on the head every time they speak.

ok here is the think about stupid conspiracy theorys like that. our government is to freaking retarded to be able to keep something like that a secret and to beuracratic to not keep a paper trail if it did happen. conspiracys only work when 1 person is involded otherwise enevidably someone opens their mouth.

i can see the first 2 questions from the press conference.

1. how do you respond to the acusations that this was actualy filmed in a studio in burbank.

2. so are you willing to finaly admit that you brought back aliens from the moon.

[8|]those people should be shot. along with ccn and fox news[8|]

rant over.

RGR Nik - I am glad you did it! [:)]

BTW, some 3rd party software (for example Acronis Disk Director or some Linux free ones that boot from CD) might have solved the problem (it must have been MBR / boot corruption or similar)...

Historiker -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (7/17/2009 5:30:04 PM)

Greetings from the Alps! I'm sitting here behind my Laptop connected with 56k - so old school internet ;-)

The weather is horrible, its icy cold in mid July - where's global warming? Was cycling with my new Mountainbike today - nice! Lost the water bottle that costed 5 Euro so I rode the route twice to find it - this time in the other direction. It was about 3km after the start, so if I'd ridden it the same direction again, I'd have saved "some" time... Anyway, was really nice!
Now sitting behind "Japanese Cruisers of the Pacific War" by Lacroix.

That's basically my rationale for going. I find the incongruity of it all fascinating. Plus, my most sarcastic friend, who I normally only see once a year at a bad movie film festival, has decided she needs to crash this and is planning on tagging along. As long as I get some good stories out of this, I feel like the time and money spent to go won't have been wasted.

No worries on the WNY; I really appreciate you being willing to help.
