Andvari -> Static Unit Moves!?! (7/5/2008 1:20:10 AM)

I ordered the 20th Eng. Rgt. to move toward Wuchow from Canton to extend my Zone of Control. For some inexplicable reason, the Canton Base Force followed it even though it is a Static unit. I did not set the Follow unit command. (PBEM by the way.)

I intend to order the 20th back to Canton and set All Units to Follow. Any other suggestions before I try this? I sure as all hell don't want to suggest we replay the turn.

Is the Base Force permanently lost in the Twilight Zone? It is still showing a Static unit status.

I had the same thing happen to the Townsville BF.  I think I probably did a "move all" on some engineers in Tville, towards Rockhampton, expecting the Tville BF to say put.  Evidently those engineers have other plans for those "immobile" 6" CD guns, because at this point, they're half-way to Rockhampton.  I'm just going to leave the stack alone until it gets to Rock, and then try marching it back to Tville to see if that works.

Dunno, we'll see.  Tville isn't in that much danger of invasion, so I'm not terribly worried.

Nope, I found out how this is happening, and it is not a move all command. I can get it to repeat (which is handy for moving like SFs shore guns up to Anchorage).

Step 1): Click on a base icon on the map. One that is connected to other bases by land and also has static units in them. The static unit needs to be the first one in line. Note the unit is highlighted on line 3.

Step 2: click on the "see all ground units in this hex" box on the very left side of line 3. Click on any mobile unit at that base. You will note that the unit information displayed in the box is for the mobile unit you selected, but look at which unit is highlighted on line 3: its still the CD unit. You are actually giving move orders for this unit (the CD unit).

Step 3: order the unit to move somewhere (LA for example).

I notice this usually happens when the static unit is the first one on line 3. Im not sure if it happens if it isnt, I havent had reliable results on that.

<another bug that wont get fixed>

Sorry, I get a little surly when someone says they cant fix a bug because its too much work.

Well, if Tville BF doesn't plant itself along the road to Rock, at least I'll (eventually) be able to send it back!

Thanks,

Let it get all the way to the base. Dont try to turn it around mid way. Has to be from a base (near as I can tell).

Feltan -> RE: Static Unit Moves!?! (7/5/2008 7:02:06 AM)

So my Shanghai base force, that marched into the hinterland of China and not on a base is just stuck?

Feltan

That is correct. If the movement stopped and it isnt in a base, you are now defending the local bakery.

Thanks for the response. I know that one is not supposed to shoot the messenger, but damn all if I don't feel like shooting someone over this. That Shanghai base force isn't small and unimportant.

I don't suppose this issue is addressed in AE?

Feltan

Thanks, Yamato! I'm going to give this a try. I've had a static BF move from Christobal to Panama in CHS. It's not nearly as critical as some situations, but I would like some AV support at the Christobal base.
