MkXIV -> What is the History of your name? (7/12/2008 1:59:57 PM)

Just wondering how some you here came up with you screen names? Some of you have pretty creative ones. I came up with mine since most of my strageties are duds [:D][:D]

Roger Neilson II -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/12/2008 2:30:10 PM)

Its the one I was born with.....sometimes I wonder if there is some compelling reason to do with security, CIA, men in dark suits that I have not quite grasped as to why most people don't use their names?

Wait, what's that car doing parked outside for the last 24 hours with a couple of shadowy figures in it?

Roger[:D]

ChickenOfTheSea -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/12/2008 3:10:47 PM)

Mine came from a childhood friend. He would make up songs that poked fun at each of us. One he did about me was something along these lines:

"He thought he was the Tiger of the Pacific,

but he was the Chicken of the Sea."

I thought the second line described my ability as a player more than the first.

You might find this thread illuminating on the subject. [:)] http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1575874&mpage=1&key=whats%2Clog%2Din%2Call%2Cabout

Ketza -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/14/2008 7:45:30 PM)

My MMORPG name is Aztek. I spelled it backwards for this site. I have used the name Aztek in computer games for 12 years but for some reason it was taken on these forums.

:(

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/14/2008 8:44:39 PM)

Being a part-time cynic, I always admired gallows humor, esp. among fighting men. Somewhere I read about the crews of the slow, undergunned LSTs calling them 'Large Slow Targets'. I also developed a soft spot for the ship type LST, the ingenious concept and technology and their often overlooked importance and accomplishments. Now, many years ago I tried playing some First-Person-Shooters - and it quickly turned out that those fast-paced quick-reaction games were not my cup of tea. Being clumsy with the controls and lacking whatever skills are necessary in FPS to survive, I got killed so often it wasn't even funny. So with a trace of gallows humor of my own I started using the nick 'LargeSlowTarget'. Shortly thereafter I discovered the Matrix Games Pacific War Forum, and since this nick fitted nicely with the topic of the game...

Mine is taken from my Everquest days, my beloved level 70 wizard and then my age when I joined the forums.[8D]

I figure with the CIA transmitter planted in my head, there isn't much I can do to hide my name anyway. [:D]

morganbj -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 1:51:54 PM)

All the good ones were used up.

..and ImWithStupid sounded, well, stupid.

My wife suggested I use it anyway, but leave out the "With."

So I went with what I went with.

That's the story, and I'm sticking to it.

tocaff -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 2:54:09 PM)

I took the first 2 letters of my 1st & middle names and the middle 2 letters of my last name.  Why?  I don't now.............

sadja -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 3:55:24 PM)

pasternakski -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 7:22:41 PM)

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was trying to come up with an e-mail password. I just happened to think "pasternak," as I had recently discovered that I was related to him through various - and sometimes nefarious - connections (including children out of wedlock, illegal migration across national borders, and polygamous marriage), but, to my amazement, it was already taken.

So, in a flash of brilliance, I just tacked on the "ski" as a handy-dandy Slavic suffix, and the rest is history.

I've just gotten used to it over the years, and I like how it drives people - like all of you - nuts trying to spell it.

Some try harder than others...

Nikademus -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 7:30:24 PM)

you could have just used "COM"

thegreatwent -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 10:01:32 PM)

My name came from a Cyberpunk game. My character was a nomad who had taken a few too many spills off of his motorcycle. The night I first played this character I was introduced to a new player, during the game her character rolled a fumble while firing a rifle. The result was my character was hit in the head. It was love at first sight and she is now my wife of 13 years[:)]. Plus I can say that the first time we met she shot me[:D].

Since that day I've taught her to shoot pistols and rifles IRL, she is now a better pistol shot than me. With my Ruger MKIII she can put together quarter sized shot groups at 25 yards, scary[X(].

anarchyintheuk -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 10:05:15 PM)

Name of the song that was on when i first logged into mud called Ronin. Just wished that the song that was on had a shorter title.

eloso -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/15/2008 10:13:23 PM)

I was a big Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear player years ago. Tom Clancy wrote a novel to promote the game for the company he formed. In that book was a character nicknamed, "Oso", who carried the M60 machinegun. This was the character that I identified with due to the similarities in my service assigned to the same weapon. It is also the spanish word for "bear". I live near Chicago and our football mascott is a Bear. [8D]

AW1Steve -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/16/2008 12:37:48 AM)

My rate in the US Navy and my 1st name. I was already using for a couple of veteran news and chat groups , so it made the carry over.

ChezDaJez -> RE: What is the History of your name? (7/16/2008 4:31:30 AM)

"ChezDaJez"

My buddies in the Navy all called me "Chez" (last four letters of my last name).

The old codeword for airborne passive sonar in the P-3 Orion was "Jezebel". Whenever, the TACCO or pilots wanted to talk to the passive airborne sonar operator, the always called for "Jez" over the ICS. And as I was the airborne passive sonar operator on my crew, they called me "Jez". So "Chez" melded with "Jez" and I became "ChezDaJez"

Mine is just the name of the horse who nearly broke the spine of my wife.
She is the boss at home (who could pretend anything else?) and she also is the one who understand (and work) with computer. As i am a perfect dumb with internet, she managed to register me on this forum, but she didn't even asked me which name i would like to use ; why, you ask your subordinate ?[:D][:)];
Just a month later, she had an accident with this horse. But i keep the name
