5 and 6 I can't get range of fire or range of movement to display. I did get range of fire for the Stukas.

7 once the pontoon is unloaded from the truck, the hex becomes impassable for other units.

Did you remove the truck from the hex?

Nope, got p***ed off and quit. Didn't mention that in the doc. Tried again. What a tedious mess. One hex movement. Don't think I'll play any river crossing scens. Thanks anyway, maybe I'll change my mind someday.

Not sure about the arty explosion graphics. The old ones were ok.

I'm not having that trouble in either scenario. In Bootcamp 6, it takes a couple of seconds for the movement range to show up. For the Stukas, that's all of the map except for the top left corner.

Just thought of it. In Bootcamp 5, the fire range for destroyers is more than 100, which means the map is too small to see the range lines.

8 very well done! Enjoyable. New FOW is reasonable for extreme setting. With U key on, vis showed 5 every turn. Is that where I would watch for vis change? Managed to get a few side shots on a T34 without success and lost my tank head on with one shot next AI turn, lol.

Had several volleys of arty on my armour with no real effect. One tank showed disabled in the damage report and moved the next turn.

I disrupted the lone 2 man icon in the first VL town and assaulted with one troops and two HTs with success.

Last turn the AI flanked me down both sides and I was glad the battle was over!

Dang impatient bastard I am, lol. Guess I'll look again.

9: I spent 10 turns looking for my G and V marked units. Re-read the doc and realised I'm supposed to guess the enemy training. duh. Taking a break.

So far, enemy arty has had some effect but only taken out one tank after several hits on armour. Troops on the other hand got the snot kicked out of them frequently. Of course my arty doesn't do squat.

Found out that the AI sneeked an ATR behind my back on high terrain and left it there spotting me. Sent a PzIII to take them out.

Assaults have been easy on some, tough on others.

Where the hell did those tanks come from?

Jason Petho -> RE: Bootcamp (7/14/2008 3:05:51 AM)

Is that bootcamp doc I included any help?

Anything you would suggest to improve it for future UPDATES?

Jason Petho

junk2drive -> RE: Bootcamp (7/14/2008 3:14:49 AM)

Definately helps. I'll critique it when I'm done. I guess I went from reporting a perceived problem to an AAR.

5 and 6, I've used boats and planes in DGVN before. More detail on 7 for sure.

junk2drive -> RE: Bootcamp (7/28/2008 5:51:04 AM)

10: Trains are cute. Scenario wasn't. Major loss, -10 points. Loaded work truck opfired (the trucks with the covered bed). Both work trucks and loaded crews taken out by one shot from ATR(?)(different parts of the map)
Too many partisans on the left side of the map. Only cleared one hex of wrecks by the time it was over.

So, did I see how trains work, yes. Did I see how crews get to wrecks and clear them, yes. Did I see something that looked like pack animals??? Did I have a chance to win, maybe.

junk2drive -> RE: Bootcamp & 103b ? (8/1/2008 3:36:21 AM)

How will the 103 fix effect these Bootcamp scenarios?

I forgot to mention that I was again surprised by the aggressive AI. It assaulted me several times. Fortunately it doesn't know how to surround and capture ;)

11: Post WWII / Cold War fans, this one's for you. Edge of your seat nailbiter and I'm only on turn 13. I won't spoil it.

Jason, vis did not change at all turn 1-9. Increased 10-11 and at 7 for 12-13.

That is a night to day scenario, so shouldn't change until "day" breaks.

Glad you're enjoying that one.

I was playing BookCamp 11. Got to turn 6 and the problems began.  The Axis got daylight but the Allies still had night vision of 2 hexes.   I had a engineer unit blown away at 7 hexes distance but I was told I only had vision for 2 hexes.  This continued into turn 7.  The Axis units were shooting up my units at four or five hexes but my vision was limited to 1 hex.  Has any one else run into this problem??

If your units were showing "gun flashes", then they can be shot at from beyond 2 hexes. Keep in mind that the attacking targets are "shooting blind" into the hex and are attacking at a reduced strength, but they can still hit the target.

schaef -> RE: Bootcamp & 103b ? (8/3/2008 2:53:49 PM)

Thanks for the response, Jason!

I was moving the Engineer company to the front, when one of the engineer units (loaded in its vehicle, moving along the road, and in a hex that had not been fired from) was attacked. The axis tank fired from 6-7 hexes away and the engineer unit with vehicle was complely destroyed. The Axis tank should not have been able to see the unit at all if both sides had only a 2 hex sight range. Units cannot fire at things they can not see (I think I am correct about that)? I will try Bootcamp 11 again and see if it happens again!

junk2drive -> RE: Bootcamp & 103b ? (8/20/2008 5:58:31 AM)

By turn 16 I was ready to call it quits. Ruskies swarming everywhere. 57 ATGs and troops couldn't dent the T series tanks. My tanks weren't much more effective. Soviet arty was making a mess of me.
I checked the score and I was surprised, a draw. I kept going. I ended with a Minor vic at 336 points.

Highly recommended to post WWII fans.

Jason, lots of SU-152s left laying around. They never got into the fight from what I saw. Indirect fire units?
Could I have some more please sir?
