GreasyLake -> Auto-Converting Factories (7/19/2008 10:33:22 PM)

I searched the manual and it did state factories would auto convert but do they always? Manual cited the case of A6M2 changing to A6M5, kinda long wait there.

I think I may be wasting a lot of supply and resources converting them manually a month or so before the new model is produced vice letting them auto-convert. I knew from post that the Nell and H6K would auto convert early but when A6M3 came along seemed like nothing converted on it's own.

Sooo, without giving too much away, how does everyone else play it?

A. Played enough AI games to know exactly which factories producing which models auto convert to the next one for free.

B. Wait a week or two after a new model comes out to see if anything auto converts.

or

C. Spend lots of supply and resource converting the factories ahead of(or after) new models start date.

I am leaning towards option B right now, Just really hoping I can get away without having to do a lot of option C.

Thanks ahead of time for all the replies. I feel like this qualifies as my stupid question quota for this week!

There are a few that dont convert. The A5M for one. The A6M2 converts to the A6M3a (I hope Im not leading him astray on this, its been a long time since I played stock).

Get WiTP Editor and it will allow you to see exactly which planes upgrade and when and to which models they upgrade.

As to the body of the question - auto-upgrade means that all your A6M2 factories will ( usually within a month of the date it can first appear ) upgrade to the A6M3, then A6M3a and finally A6M5 ( this varies depending on the mod of course ). So, if you are creating all of those factories a month before the plane is due to appear then, yes, you are wasting hundreds of thousands of tons of supply.

Actually I am playing Big B scene 192. I had produced what I thought was an abundance of A6M2 so I thought it would be smart to change the factories to the next model early, the extra R&D hopefully bringing in that model sooner and with everything already changed over.

Just started thinking I might have put myself in a worse situation by stopping the flow of auto conversions. I have changed so many things that now nothing will convert for free!!!???

OK Nemo, just got that. Thank you very much, but now I will have to go hide my head for awhile. All you other Jap newby's better be getting this!
