Eagle Strike -> Items in the Manual (7/20/2008 10:01:25 AM)

I've had some time to begin looking over the 1.03 version and noticed a few items in the manual that I would like to get some clarification on:

On page 93: (below is copied from the manual)

Effects of being Low on Supply – A combat unit that attacks using Direct Fire will only attack a number of times equal to its Strength Points (1) divided by two, fractions rounded up (keep in mind that such a unit normally is allowed a number of attacks equal to the number of Strength Points it has)(2). A Low on Supply artillery (Indirect Fire) unit cannot attack (this actually represents that battery not receiving proper fire orders, a breakdown in communications, or it is being used to support other units in a nearby battle). A Low on Supply Headquarters is unable to provide supply to other units under its command. Note that units are never out of supply; a unit that is Low on Supply can still attack, albeit at reduced effectiveness (exception: Indirect Fire units and HQs reported as “unavailable”). Any Low on Supply unit that assaults does so at 3/4 effectiveness.

– I believe the number of attacks is equal to a units “Action Points” and not Strength Points as stated above... Is that correct?

On page 163:(below is copied from the manual)

MAINTENANCE UNITS (1.03): AKA Recovery Platoon, AKA Werkstat, AKA Dozer. These are units that can REMOVE 2 WRECKS PER TURN. They act similar to Engineers in that respect. You move the unit into a hex with wrecks and leave it there for a turn to start removing wrecks. At this point, these ARE NOT combat units but have some defense, so you will have to secure the area they intend to operate prior to sending them to the front line. Again, as a new unit, these will only affect.

- My question is what happens if the hex already contains 20 wrecks which is the maximum allowable per hex? The same question is whatever the size of the “maintenance” unit (an example of size 3) the same problem would occur if the hex containing wrecks numbers 18 or more. I was thinking that if the number of wrecks and the size of the "maintenance vehicle" exceed 20 Strength points then that hex can not be cleared... IMHO.

Thanks again Jason & the Beta Brigade for molding this new version and it's really raised my enjoyment level a few notches. I'm currently playing a battle against the AI, 2 Team battles and a DCG It's become a real learning curve with these few new adjustments and that's fine by me.

I do have one other question though. As mentioned I'm playing a DCG on the Russian front commanding the Germans and noticed I could load a size 6 GrW34 81mm mortar onto a size 5 Krupp Protze. I thought only infantry could have more men than the carrier?

Thanks in advance for any comments... Gentlemen.

Eagle Strike,

You can fire as many times as your AP's allow. Each time you fire, you get one die roll per strength point. The manual for low supply is discussing the die rolls, which determine the results of your attack.

Hi Eagle Strike,

As for your question about wrecks, I did a quick check and this is what I found. The maximum amount of wrecks in a hex is 18. The maximum amount of units (in SPs) in a hex (including wrecks) is 24; that is, the total number of SPs + wrecks in a hex can be 24 max.

I checked in scenario editor, it would only allow 18 wrecks to be placed in a hex. Then I set the number of wrecks to 16 and put a 5sp tank in the same hex. Then I played the test and destroyed the tank. Then I checked the hex; it showed only 18 wrecks.

Thanks Scott I think I understand your reasoning but for some reason it still reads funny to me. It's not the age that kills me but everything falling apart and/or not working that's murder... [;)]

Thank you cw58 and then it would make sense. A max amount of wrecks @18 and units a max of 24 it would then allow a maintenance vehicle to a max of size 6 enter that hex.

Maintenance Units to not factor against hex SP cost when involving wrecks.

Eagle Strike,

I understand. I took about 5 minutes for me to get the wording correct.
