Before anyone flames me ... i have been having alot of trouble with this.

Considering that alot of people here have probably had TOAW2 .....

I am trying to install TOAW2 (yes 2) on a Vista laptop.

It installs but when i run it i keep getting...

Wrong version of windows (no support for Windows NT)

Any ideas to get around this?

Thanks

XP, Vista and the like are NT related operating systems. The reason that Matrix bought the title(and others like Campaign Series) is that those games were desinged to run on the prior generation of operating systems(ie, the 95 format) They do not run in windows NT operating systems. They tweaked the engines of these games to run on modern OS's and re-released them so we can still enjoy them today[:)]

They wont even run when you try to emulate or "run this program like it was being run with Windows95" option. I've tried.

You will have to buy TOAWIII from Matrix if you dont already have it. It is the upgraded version that will run on your computer and has way more goodies than TOAWII anyway. The other option is you could run the program on an old computer with old windows 95.

Good luck

Hi

try loading TOAW3??? LOL

Seriously, try running it in compatibility mode.

"right click" on the TOAW desktop icon.

Go to the "compatibility" tab

Select XP

Has worked for me with a couple of other "older" applications.

Good luck

Oh well that is what i am afraid of.

I guess i will have to create a Virtual PC image with Win98 on it...

Thanks for your assistance.

COW is no problem on NT systems so it should be possible with volume II. But I'm mystified as to what you'll do with II as opposed to COW or III. No-one plays or designs for II any more.
