Port forwarding / NAT has worked on our Internet trials. DirectPlay 4.0 uses 47624 and 2300-2400 for TCP, and just 2300-2400 for UDP. Some people have had problems with Internet and LAN play, and the libraries we use, Microsoft's DirectPlay 4.0, does have some issues and has been deprecated by Microsoft in the last few years. Other people seem to be able to play TCP/IP games just fine. We've never been able to establish why some people have problems and others do not -- and neither, apparently, has Microsoft. I would have loved to migrate the TCP/IP engine to a newer library, but unfortunately DirectPlay 4.0 is quite idiosyncratic, and this would require a major amount of work on the engine.
