Hi,

This applies to ALL GAMES when runing a non-native resolution.

I am useing Nvida cards, but this should apply to any card.

1. Open your vedio card control panel.
2. Click on Change Flat Panel Scaling.
3. Check the 'Do Not Scale' radio button.
4. Click on 'Apply' then 'OK'.
5. Your desktop will not fill the whole screen. don't freak out.
6. Run your game.
7. The graphic will fill up most of the screen except for the amount of 'leftover' lines of resolution.
8. marvel at the nearly full screen PERFECTLY SHARP GRAPHICS!!!!!

I do this all the time, it works great. If you have a comment or it does not work for your setup, comment on it.

I should mention that this applies to when you want to run in fullscreen mode in a game that your LCD native resolution forces scaling.

Also, this works best for 1024x768, and you may get a really small display area depending on your LCD native resoltuion. I am useing a 30'' inch Apple display, and 1024x768 almost fills the whole screen.

Boy, I would very much love to try this! Problem is I'm having a Raedon 9600 card and I can't find this function in the ATI Catalyst Control Center. Anyone else who has the same card and can spread some light on where to change this? [:)]

Concerning ATI;

I read this in a forum;

"Okay the all-new Driver and CCC are installed but there's nothing here to help me. There is are "Scaling Options" instructions listed in the Help section but it applies only to Digital only. So I see no "Digital Panel (DVI)" under the "Graphics Settings" tree.

Plus, what's the deal with this new driver? Windows s-l-o-w-ly move, a piece at a time, when dragged across the desktop and menus take forever to pull down and load up with the type in them. I created a restore point so hopefully I can successfully roll back to that, but why is everything so crappy under this new driver? Shouldn't an updated driver improve performance instead of degrade it to near unusability? I'm missing something here for sure"

Maybe you need to be using digital DVI to enable any scaling options?

I wil surf some more and try to find out.

ATI:

Just read this;


"Go to the display panel properties for the respective screen (In catalyst, not windows), and under Image Scaling, change the radio to "Use Centered Timings". Then adjust the resolution. It seems to have no effect if you change the resolution then change the scaling setting."

I don't know if this helps, been a while since I had an ATi card.

Well, it seems my understanding of these technical thing leaves something to be desired ...

Thanks for your help so far. It's now way behind midnight here in Sweden and I'm retiring to bed. But I will try more tomorrow. [8D]

No, I can't fix this. I've have upgraded, been reading forums. Seems it not possible. [:(]

I was hoping to be able use more than the highest zoom-level, but alas ...

Seems there's nothing to do about it; unless Nvidia comes up with a better version of the drivers in this regard. It's a bit sad that you can use only one zoom-level, but the game is still very fun.
